What???
I am just curious why it is that when you say that you are against this "health care" plan, you are immediately attacked. You are accused of not caring about your fellow man. Then, they decide that it is because you are a republican and have been either paid off of brainwashed. Here's the thing... I think we all know that there are cases where people need help from the government to help with health care, food stamps or cash assistance. Obviously the government understands that because we have had programs in place for those people for years. Nobody is trying to take that away. These are available when you NEED them, not for life. The other thing is, there are several democrats who don't agree with this bill, you've all seen them on the news, no matter which news channel you watch.

Apparently the objections have to do with "End of Life" assistance - Something which needs to be dealt with. The detractors however are not interested in having any discussions, they simply urge congress to "Vote NO at any cost" which coincides with the typical Republican premise of "Vote No On Anything That Costs Money".

Too bad the voting public were not asked to vote on invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan which basically spent about 15 years worth of money we had in surplus, that could have been used for better purposes. For the cost of one smart bomb used by our military, 5000 out-of-work people could have been given preventative health care.

Now, it is not that I hate Republicans, but rather that I believe that the republicans currently in office seriously need to be voted out of office.

My District Representative, Duncan Hunter is a Republican, my dad, who was a republican liked him and I like him, but he always considers the needs of his constituents, and does not simply vote NO on something because Rush Limbaugh says so.

Jessie, you were accused of not caring about your fellow man because you had such a hateful vindictive attitude towards those who need assistance.

Medicare and Military Health Care work quite well - both very much governmentally controlled. I don't see either of those covered groups clamoring to be at the mercy of for-profit institutions with merciless policies, like "pre-existing conditions".

Besides which, that's a straw man argument. There is NO movement in Congress for "government health care".

The head "Blue Dog" is from my state.

Most of the Demos trying to obstruct this health care reform are bought and paid for by the big insurance companies. Money talks. They've been very successful with their disinformation campaigns, like "killing Grannie". Despicable.

Now that is quite funny Dan... :)

If in fact, medicaid, medicare and Military Health Care work, then good, I'm glad... I don't believe they are that great, but I don't use them. However, I do know that the health care that I pay for through my employer works great. I enjoy the freedom I have with my health care plan. I enjoy the fact that it is not taxed. But please don't tell me that my health care will not be affected because it will. My employer will be taxed if they continue to provide it for me and I will be taxed if I continue to use it. This action alone will push my employer out of providing this health care for me and I will be pushed into public health care. For those who don't mind government run health care plans such as medicaid, that's fine for you, I hope you enjoy it. I don't want it. Leave me out of it. And for those of you who understand where I am coming from but still think I should be quiet, I understand where you are coming from, I understand that I am committing social suicide, but I am not afraid of the big, bad wolf. I am not afraid to stand up for what I believe in and you shouldn't be either.

Social suicide? You really feel persecuted, don't you? You shouldn't, there are at least a million kooks out there who agree with you. :>) However you're mistaken about a lot of things.

"My employer will be taxed if they continue to provide it for me and I will be taxed if I continue to use it."

They've talked about taxing the super luxury plans held by the Wall Street Execs, but even this is not by any means certain. So once again you're completely uninformed and not only depending on the bad grape rumor mill but you're spreading disinformation carelessly.

Well then you should snitch on me!!! Here's some more for you.

Pg 149 Lines 16-24 ANY Employer with payroll 400k & above, who does not provide public option, pays 8% tax on all payroll

This is true.

pg 150 Lines 9-13 Businesses with payroll btw 251k & 400k who doesn’t provide public option pays 2-6% tax on all payroll

This is true. The HOUSE bill includes a sliding-scale tax schedule for businesses with payrolls starting at $250,001.

Pg 167 Lines 18-23 ANY individual who doesn’t have acceptable HC according to the Govt will be taxed 2.5% of income

This is true. The HOUSE bill requires you to have “acceptable” insurance, or you will be taxed.

I for one will defend your right to speak your mind Jessie... No worries...

There is nothing to be afraid of, everyone should be able to express an opinion.Sometimes people forget that and attack the person. You are pretty level headed. As far as taxing benefits, so far Obama has defended against this...I hope it remains so.

This is a huge issue for everyone, I hope it can be worked out. I am not going to debate anyone on this site any longer, I am not here for that.

You are new here Jessie, Holo has been around for a long time...I went through the election Process with him... That was fun.... Not! :) You cannot change his mind...
He is being nice to you, I think he only called you an idiot once. :)

Holo, you are far more effective when you abstain from jabs. Yes, I know I have thrown a few at you in the past. On an agreeable note, Sarah Palin should shut up, she is pandering to the far right wackos. It is pathetic.... Her positions are nothing but fear mongering tactics that retard constructive discussion.

Peace,

Jeff

Jessie, the Bill has no chance of being passed as written in my opinion.. As for Obama's advisors quote...that is a trial balloon to gauge public reaction....

That is still on the table, albeit close to falling off. ... I hope... :)

Jeff, I knew somebody would call me on the Military Health Care part. I read the news :)

But it's a relative matter. At least those in the military system are covered as well as those with private health care, which, the contention is, works quite well. Despite some systemic problems with the military not believing in stress-related problems, and some aging facilities. My Dad had a lot of care at Veteran's Hospitals, and they did rather well by him. At least as well as civilian care. Psychiatric care for civilians, as well as the military, is dismal across the country.

Jessie, I don't believe anything is going to happen to cause you to lose your medical coverage. Congress is well aware that people with decent coverage vote, and they're getting an earful during the recess.

At the same time, something has to happen to get everyone else covered. It's not just people who are too confident or cheap to buy insurance or who just want to freeload at emergency rooms that are being affected. And believe me, going to an emergency room with no insurance is no picnic, and no free-loading experience.

I understand that maybe the system isn't perfect. But then, maybe something should be done with the medicaid system and not the whole insurance system as a whole. Maybe they should look at the income limits, I understand that there are people who have jobs and opt out of insurance because they can't afford for that money to be taken out of their checks. I get it. I understand that the system doesn't work perfectly as it stands but come on. And I understand also that going to the emergency room without insurance sucks. I went a few months ago without my insurance card and they told me that I wasn't sick, that I just had symptoms. Good news is that I was only billed 150.00 and I was able to bill my insurance for that, but my quality of care was diminished and I was angry. But what they gave me worked and I was honestly unsure of whether I should be upset at the care I received or upset that they do more than they need to when there is an insurance available. What do you think?

Health care
We all need it
Even the people making the regulations
At some point we all need the care of people at a time when we are most vunerable, injured, distraught, ill. Many times not knowing why.

And we deserve a choice

The right to have preventative care
The right to receive urgent care
The right to choose Specialists to trust and a facility for those specialists to execute his or hers finest care
The right to Life not decided by how old we are or how expendable our disease
The right for dignity when life may be short
The right to alternative, holistic care when needed
The right to spiritual intervention

I am a Health care professional as well as a musician
I see the impact of cost containment
I have lived through the effects of government decisions and health care reform

Most important, we are all People
When you are the Patient and your life is flashing before your eyes and your are afraid
You deserve the best guidance, support and care the medical system can provide
Believe in the education ,dedication and passion of our Professionals that make up our Health Care System
Support it
Nurture it

Someday you too will be the Patient

Bless you all

Pardon my language earlier. I just don't really like politics even though I realize they are probably necessary to a certain extent. They seem to tear people apart more than they bring anyone together.

Jeff I can only play whats preloaded into our computer system. It's easy to import stuff, I've got some stuff I did for beds, but as far as music I doubt our GM would dig me playing my stuff... it doesn't show up on his list of golden classic hits or whatever, haha.

Sorry for interrupting your thread Jessie.

Private Healthcare works great until you get a Cronic illness.
I've had M.S for 10 years, I could tell you stories, but I dont want to.

Anyway, I'm lucky, I eat well, exercise, run my own little business and I can manage my illness without taking Copaxone, or Interfuron or Beta seron or any of the other crap they've tried to put me on, others are not so lucky, and these meds cost $7000 to $10,000 a year.
still, when we changed from Cigna to our current plan, (my wifes employer was price shopping) they increased our deductible to $500, increased our rates, increased our catastrophic to $10,000 deducuctible.
My daughter got hurt, my portion of the Hospital bill was $13,000.
Right now our plan costs more than our mortgage. I went to Juarez Mexico to get my teeth worked on because I can get 3 root canals with handmade porcilin crowns done there for the price of 1 here.

hmmm..

most of our extended family is covered by the VA, my wifes father was a ww2 vet, was in Battan on the death march as were dozens of guys from this community (only 3 are still slive now) All of my mother in laws siblings have died of Cancer, they lived here during the Mahattan Experiment days and have lived near Los Alamos most of their lives....Her brothers family was ruined by the cost of care, they lost their home eventually as they tried to reimburse the Hospital as he was the only one who didn't serve in the Military.

really, all this is going to do is make the governemnt the one who distributes funds to the actual healthcare providers, removing the HMOs etc. I really need a public option because the odds are I will get sicker as I grow older, I qualify for disability now but I wont take it, I've enever taken it, I can work for myself and thank the tooth fairy that my wife has at least some sort of healthplan for us fron her work, but I hte to think what would happen if my M.S ever really started to kick my ass again. It sucks to live with worry like that. I hve never made much, I make about $20,000 on a good year, this year will be much less so my Full Disability benefits right now would only be $935 a month. Which wont cover my bills, so I have to stay healthy, it's quite n incentive but it's laced with a constant nagging worry.

It's United Health Care that is freaking out about this Bill because they bank 88 Billion a year in revenues . eighty eight billion a year!!!
This is why they spend a million dollars a day to fight against the development of this Bill. One cant help but think that a fair part of this money goes directly to spreading misinformation.

eighty eight BILLION a year, for just administering healthcare. This is the deal, we will Save Money by creating a strong public option because it will finally create competition for these largely consolidated Insurance Cartels. Single Payer would eliminate them all together and the cost savings would be $70 billion a year!!!!!

but we wont get single payer, bcause the Democrats and the Republicans are Owned by U.H.C.

Medicaid USED to work great - Until Bush put his stinking greedy paws on it and ruined it.

Anyway, by the time Jesse needs health care and she loses her job at Chevron, she'll have voted it away with all the other republican dumbasses.
