The Elevator Pitch - Opportunity Knocks
Okay, I just created my first station...so I wanted to create one that we would all stake our careers on...
Believe me...you'll be lucky if they listen to ONE of your records...you'd better grab their attention with this one...it's happened to me all too often on this journey...
Okay, I'm new to this so let's make it easy...go to the station - The Elevator Pitch - and submit YOUR ONE RECORD...you want to have here on this page and I'll post it...it just might be the one that made the difference in your career...

Love the station Name Aimee. cool idea. should be interesting what shows up here.
And your song indeed rocks it out, great choice
Know all about the pitching songs and all for artists and promoting their cds....did it for 5 years , although it was for mostly groups in the folk ,country , blues and some in the jazz genre.
very challenging work indeed.
good luck with your station
looking good

This is why IAC rocks...these stations could be exactly what make the difference between THE OTHER SITES and IACmusic...music is music...a hit is a hit...so I just figured, let's put them all in one place...lol

Hello Bryon! Good to see you here! yay! And Bryon is good at promoting iac music! I can't do without him, I'd be dead in the water round here. heheeh!
Aimee, I have only 2 songs online right now. So I'll go with "Long Way Down" for your station. It's more upbeat than the other one listed. Thank you Aimee!

Thanks Aimee.
It's quite difficult for us... our most popular song here at IAC is Making Mischief, but our favourite is Hello... although Glittering Cities has proved popular over the years it's a little long at just over 7 minutes....
PS Aimee, it's "lo and behold" :)

Hey Aimee,
Elevator Pitch ? I think I'd just tremble in my boots, and stammer out something incomprehensible.... so a station where verbal interaction is not required, sounds great to me. :)
They say you need to have faith, so if I had to pick just one, I'd put up.... "Love Rains Down"..... for your consideration at http://www.iacmusic.com/artist.aspx?id=129785
cheers, niteshift ( Geoff Wood ) , KAW Creation
PS - please excuse the autoplay. I get a lot of non-English speaking traffic, and sometimes it's just easier to hit the play button when music says it clearer than words.

I'll leave this here, just in case you missed it on the station tagboard :) Sometimes, it's really hard to read a busy tagboard, and important statements can be buried amid the trivia.
Merry Mary Fing Christmas
This is my song that I'm really the most proud of. Spent quite a lot of time on it. It pretty much epitomizes my body of work. I think I've captured the Frank Sinatra style perfectly, and God knows, there are few enough Sinatra imitators nowadays. It's like it's so old, it's new again. It's also a lyrical masterpiece, I worked very hard on it, trying to avoid any cliches. I doubt very seriously if anyone else on this board could top it, although I welcome them to try (nyah, nyah, nyahah!). Even without the lyrical content, though, I think the music speaks for itself.
Thanks for your consideration! :) I see you're going to be a grand promotional force around here, and I just didn't want to miss out or anything. :)

Aimee -- I almost forgot about THIS one, which would fit in nicely with the other tunes on your station: Friends
It's currently in the top 50 of Country, and was in the top 2 or 3 of the Country Category for the Contest, up until being eliminated by the Judges just recently.
And it's pretty fuckin' Sweet and Catchy too.

The thing is, Aimee, I have a new record that's almost done. And, I think that my best stuff is on THAT record!
But, seeing as how I don't have the finished, mastered versions of those songs yet available, I will submit to you the following:
"Cary's Here".
It's the one that sometimes makes me cry when I sing it. And (especially for the parents out there), seems to strike a real soft spot.
It's an upbeat pop song about all the overwhelming feelings associated with becoming a new parent.
Have a listen, will you?

I find it interesting that you say you want to stake your career on this station and then you just place anybody who asks to be on it on your playlist.
Aren't you afraid by not being selective it will turn people off to listening to the station or isn't this about that?
|
|
Aimee Terrin
|
10/15/2009 4:42:25 PM
Banana,
It's a hypothetical situation...but to be honest...I can't tell you how many, dare I say "Big Shots", have asked for just one song...
"Handle Your Business" - in my situation, doesn't showcase my vocal range at all...but I guarantee you, because I've been there too many times before, it gets "Big Shots" attention...and that's the focus of an Elevator Pitch - make them want to hear more...
If you go indie, any great record is fair game for your first release...BUT...if you still dare to SIGN WITH A MAJOR, they want a pre-packaged ATTENTION GETTER (i.e. "I Kissed a Girl", "Rehab", etc)

btw ...
I can't help it. I'm twelve at heart ... and I've had the same thing happen to me over my twelve years of musical existence ... where things are taken totally out of context.
The first time I heard "Handle Your Business" as a title ONLY ... I thought "Play w/ ... well, I can't mention it in polite company"
Totally wrong ... but I'd be dishonest if I didn't mention it ... for even if it's just my own silly warped thinking, it's what first struck me as an impression.
I can't help it. I'm 73 trapped in a 12 year old's mind.
Consider it a focus group where I just said the weird thing that needed saying ... in case no one else would.
