a new indie paradigm about what constitutes a new song
Let's face it, our entire catalogues are still in obscurity. My Walmartville, a relatively popular song by indie standards, has never been heard of by 99.8% of anyone. All our songs are therefore "new songs". Here's a secret about Negative Tendencies. Their music so far has mostly been songs I wrote in the 80s. I wrote and copyrighted like 400 songs from that decade, and the very best I humbly saved til the day I could afford a studio. Never really happened but I found 2 pros to be with in a band and produce me. Now I can make these songs right. and sorry if this bugs you, but they're new songs.

I agree that "old" songs are actually new if they haven't been heard or haven't been heard in the form they were intended. A good song transcends the time in which it was written. There's nothing more rewarding or redemptive than "making a song right" as you put it. You also have the advantage of being able to enhance the songs with the experience that you're gained over the years. Apparently the 80's were a very prolific time for you. Good luck in this ambitious project. Who would be "bugged" by this? Not I!

I "revisit" songs regularly... I don't sell any music so I don't thinks a big deal to re-release something. The most recent song I posted "Monica" is on it's third run...
Started out all acoustic then all electric... each time I think (hope) I improved the vocals.
Do your thing man...
Striving to improve is part of this journey in whatever we do...

"I hope you didn't rhyme with "veronica" and "Hanukkah".
Ha!
That's good though...
It's a "names have been changed to protect the innocent"... kind of love song. At least when we write we can air some dirty laundry if we so choose...
The name "Monica" came to me as I was trying to come up with a HarMonica line to go along with the song thought it added a little tongue-in-cheek to it. Though no one ever seems to pick up on it.
Thanks for checking it out... link yours so I can hear it

It's ok, Jeff. If my thread can be the foil for Lyin Dan to dramatically present one of his titles, I don't suppose I can be much more good for anything than that. :)

Well, ya know, it all circles around. That tune circa 2000 or 2001. They're all new to those who haven't heard. We all love fresh meat.

It played for me today... don't know what happened yesterday. I've had it happen before so it most likely is a "me" problem!
