To all the winners of a golden kayak. Proposal
So my other thread I have this crazy idea. To put out an album of IMPs best. THE BEST OF INDIE. One song from each artist willing to participate. My account with CD baby links all the major platforms. Now I’m not saying we’re gonna get rich. But it may be exposer for our site. Any profits will be fed back to the website for its continued operations. After taxes of course Scott! LOL.
So if you want in please drop a note on this thread. Maybe collectively we can garner some exposer?
Peace
Bruce

Bruce, as long as I or my publishing company remain free to license my song "When We Play" to any other venture in the future, I am in on this project. Bt the legalities must eb done with all the specifications written and signed. I don't mind giving all the proceeds for this project to IMP but I reserve the right to use my song on other projects. So, ther legalities must be done. But yeah, I like this idea.

Of Course Stoneman. Non Binding. this is an experiment. Won't probably amount to much. Do you have access or know where I could find the paperwork??? Could set it up as A Doc U Sign . then everyone would be covered.
Thanks for your wisdom!
Best,
Bruce

I like it. It would be nice to raise enough money to help with the hosting and maintenance. Keep me posted.

I use Distrokid as a distributer for streaming. They specifically state they have exclusive rights for distribution to any platform that they distribute to. Each song has its own id number associated by the process. It is done so they don't cause confusion at stores over where money goes from streams, etc. I am not opposed to putting any of my stuff up, would like to, but it just isn't as easy as it seems. In fact it could lead to getting everyone kicked off from all the biggest streaming sites. A ton of worms guys! I suggest reading the terms of service of all the distributers out there first. Artists themselves have nothing to do with this BS by the big entities of control.

Again, this does not mean I don’t want to be a part of this. It is rules already imposed by distributors . Here is a link to the rules.https://support.distrokid.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025352813-What-are-DistroKid-s-Terms-of-Service

You would have to have your own playlist on Spotify, and add the songs from anyone ‘s playlist who has posted songs there (a distributer is required) with the song I’d. If it,s done separately for anything already up there it’s trouble city. In addition, I go by the name Lanny K on many sites, and have my own label as well, adding to confusion. The simple wy is just to eliminate anyone who has posted up at all these streamers already, and do it from scratch with a distributer that can upload to them. There isn't any money in it, except for those powers that be that I have mentioned, as you have to pay the distributer first just to get songs posted. Then it's back to square one because no one knows your playlist even exists in a global maze of millions upon millions of playlists! Same deal just about everywhere in this BS rigged game. Those reasons make this site so extra special! Trouble is, the big interests go overboard to help to keep them obscure.

Hey all, Sounds like there’s a lot of concerns with this idea. So I’m gonna shelve it for a bit and do some research. I don’t want to tick anyone off. Or, cause a problem. Really like Seismo’s post of places to pitch. Might try some of those with our own stuff.
Take care and I’ll talk when I’m better informed.

Hey Bruce,
Kudos to you for putting forth helpful suggestions. Since you’re into country, you might be interested in www.awriter’sparadise.com in Nashville. They offer a wide variety of services and of course it’s not free but there is one service that is only $25 a month (cancel anytime) Every month you get a bunch of tips on who is looking for original material. Just scroll down to “services” and click on Tips/writers for details.
Good luck and thanks again for your interesting suggestions.

Keep in mind that IMP offers the innovative DMD which could be used for this purpose. This feature never got much use as we would've hoped when we created it, simply because hardly anybody buys indie music except if you have a table set up at your gig. but it allows you to present songs in a far more elaborate way than they can be presented with a conventional CD. See this example DMD.

It's the same problem up on the big sites as anywhere else really, except for here. You are still left with creating your own following for anyone knowing you exist. The popular people pay big bucks for a promotional machine out to the masses. unless they already built that decades ago. There is only room for a few killing it with their mega marketing, etc.
