STILL FACING DEFEAT FOR MYSELF
I STILL FACE DEFEAT. THIS IS A BITTER DEFEAT FOR MY OWN COMPETITION. THE COMPETITION IS ONLY ME, MYSELF, AND I. FEELING LIKE I'M THROWING IN THE TOWEL. THIS INDUSTRY IS FULL OF OPINIONS, EXCUSES, FAVORS, AND BEGGARS.
The latest results from the Hugs Top 20 Countdown and the Hugs Top 200 are in: "Mrs. Right" is now at #32 and "Highway 61" has fallen to #53. Honestly, I’m feeling overwhelmed right now—it's like I’m experiencing breakdowns, shakedowns, meltdowns, and burnouts all at once. This situation is just wild. Every failed chart entry feels like it's pushing me closer to defeat in this industry. I find myself asking questions like: How do I keep ending up on the losing side? Why am I getting overlooked? And why do the numbers feel so deceptive? At this point, I’m tempted to just throw in the towel! It’s exhausting!

Winners are subjective in every case, be thankful you're in the running.

Just love what your doing and the opinions of those who love the music you create is all that matters.

Music is all about the love of music. Here's a thought for you: Tom Brady was selected as the 199th overall pick in the sixth round by the New England Patriots in the 2000 NFL Draft. And what did he do with that? Yeah, man. Forget about the awards or rankings and just make your music. You kick ass. I don't listen to you because you won an award. I listen to you because you kick ass.

Charts and rankings and shit are all easilly manipulated by unscrupulous folks. I don;t pay much attention to them. A good way to figure this out is to just listen to top ten songs. Are they better than yours? If not, odds are the charts have been manipulated by someone. Now, I don't even know what a Hugs top 20 count down is and that is an indication that it may not be as important as you seem to think it is. I never heard of it. But I will say this. No matter what your showing on any chart is, you need to know in your heart that your songs are better. That in itself should keep you from feeling so defeated. An old guy told me a long time ago when I was crying in my drink about a failed performance : "Stop crying in your drink about the opinons of these people. What makes you think they know more about music than you?" Than he said the words that sparked my rise. He said " Son, get your head out of your ass its blocking your vision. I didn't know what he was talking about until I played the same venue with a different crowd and turned the place out. So to you, my musical brother who feels so defeated because your music is not high on the Hugs chart I say : "Son, get your head out of your ass, its blocking your vision." You are great artist but there are many great artists who never topped a chart until they learned to believe that their music was worthy to top any chart and the opinions of others don't translate into defeat. Only you can defeat yourself by giving up and throwing in the towel. That would be the biggest defeat of your life and it would be a self defeat. Just keeping it real my brother. keep it real......Defeat is for the defeated" Winners never quit! Stoneman
