When Pete heard my song

I uploaded a video clip of Pete Townshend, Rachel Fuller and Mikey Cuthbert on their Internet chat show, In The Attic. The clip features Rachel introducing a video made by Paul Biscardi, a fellow blogger, the song for the video is one of mine called Walkin On The Grid It was written about the experience reading and blogging with Pete during publication of his online novella, The Boy Who Heard Music. When the song ends, Pete speaks about the video and how much he liked the song. It was the nicest birthday present I ever had.

I've been a fan of The Who and Pete Townshend for many years, listening to The Who in the early 70's when I was about 8. It was Pete who inspired me to pick up a guitar. My Mum was a huge Who fan, she was the person who brought their records into our house. I eventually took Mum to see them on one of their farewell tours (1982 - LA colosseum) and she loved it, although, she's always been a bigger fan of Roger than Pete. Pete's always been the driving force behind The Who and a huge influence for me.

Nice birthday present indeed! I can see why Pete would like the song though. Great feel good groove. Well done, Gary.

Commented previously before watching - now that I've watched I'll add - that's VERY interesting...I don't know a thing about the underlying blog, but it's interesting to see some of the "personalities" I've seen here and at myspace float by on the screen - and interesting to here Pete discuss the nature of the online connections and the creative feedback between online activities and artistic expression, as well as the personal relationships that build...IAC has, for me and many others, assumed a role not only as musical venue, but as a social hangout where real friendships and collaborations can be born and developed...the online world and its connections are somehow illusory and real at the same time...

Congrats once again, Gary - that must have been a real thrilling period for you, and this segment a lovely culmination of the experience...!

:)
