LOL Silverwood!!
Well, it looks like I'll have to give away the first clue.......
This clue is obscure enough to make my brain hurt!

I'll just be lurking quietly, patiently awaiting the answer. I am Floydless.

I consider myself a pretty fair music trivia buff, especially when it comes to Pink Floyd and I'm not far behind with the Beatles. But I'm just not coming up with the answer. The closest I can come is "I dunno I was really drunk at the time" from Money, but that was Henry McCullough, Paul McCartney's guitarist in Wings. Paul's voice was recorded but wasn't used. (Source: The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon DVD).
So - what's that clue?

Oh - "This clue is obscure enough to make my brain hurt!" was the clue!"
Unless Larree has it with Obscured by Clouds, that points me in the direction of "Brain Damage". Are the words "I can't think of anything to say... I think it's nice..."?

Larree, that is a great guess and yes, my 'obscure' reference was quite intentional in my clue in order to not make it too obvious unless you actually knew the answer. The reference also refers to the final track on Dark Side of the Moon, 'Eclipse', which leads me to our quiz winner........
.......Stegor!!!
You are spot on with your answer. I originally actually thought the words, "I don't know. I was really drunk at the time" were Paul McCartney going from my slightly faulty recall of the Making of 'Dark Side of the Moon' (DSOTM). Hence, my posting of this question.
Once I posted the question, I figured I'd get out that DVD and watch it again because it was a while since I've seen it. Anyway, since I was paying close attention to the part about the spoken words on the album, I discovered that it was actually Henry McCullough that said that line. Oh well, I figured I'd leave the quiz in place here and just make it a 'trick question' lol :-D
Pink Floyd were in studio three at Abbey Road recording 'DSOTM' and Wings were in studio two recording 'Red Rose Speedway'. Paul and Linda's interviews were not used because, in the words of Dave Gilmour, "they're much too good at being evasive for their answers to be usable".
Paul McCartney was a big Pink Floyd fan in their early years and Roger Waters was a big John Lennon fan.
There have been many Floyd / Beatles / Wings interactions over the years some of which include -
Pink Floyd were recording 'Piper At The Gates Of Dawn' in 1967 at Abbey Road while The Beatles were recording 'Sgt. Peppers'. Apparently, there were many interactions during these sessions.
Alan Parsons, who engineered DSOTM also had a hand in engineering The Beatles 'Abbey Road' (one of my favourite albums).
Dave Gilmour played guitar on a couple of Paul McCartney albums. He plays on ' No More Lonely Nights' from 'Give My Regards to Broad Street' and 'We Got Married' from 'Flowers in the Dirt'.
Storm Thorgerson, who did the famous prism cover for DSOTM also did the cover art for the Wings album 'Wings Over America' (which I still have on vinyl).

My favorite part of that DSOTM dvd is about the Great Gig in the Sky. Claire Torry's story is amazing. She actually apologized for her terrible vocal improvisation! I guess she didn't realize it was one of the most incredible performances ever recorded.

That DVD is one of my favourite rock documentaries, Stegor. Clare was actually embarrassed by that performance!!!
She later went on to sue Floyd for missing songwriting credits on 'Great Gig in the Sky' too! She's listed on the SACD copy I have!!! lol :-)
BTW - For those of you who have 5.1 capable SACD players, I HIGHLY recommend getting a copy of DSOTM on SACD. It is like listening to the album for the first time again!
There's also a bootleg DVDa of the original four channel discreet mix by Alan Parsons from the original master tapes floating around too. Some people like it better than the SACD mix. I personally prefer the SACD but the AP DVDa is still a must have for any serious Floyd fan.
The AP DVDa is a more 'experimental' mix with more panning and more things 'flying around the room' but the SACD is more 'mature' and enveloping and, given the almost 30 year differences in the technology used for the mixing, is superior sonically too.
