Link to live recording with Joe Jack Talcum
A short while back I backed up Joe Jack Talcum in a live performance that was recorded and shot for video...there's talk of it being released on CD/DVD if it all works out - one tune has been mixed and there's a player on this page...Joe Jack is singing and playing his guitar and I'm playing my wood bodied dobro guitar a little left of center and occasionally tapping my foot (thump thump thump, oops!)...hope you enjoy a listen...one of my favorite Dead Milkmen songs (and videos) and a pleasure to play.

Sorry about missing the first chord change (doh!). As Joe says - "That just proves it's live!"

hahaha

xo,
H

Thanks, Todd - I probably posted it in a blog at one point. During the show I was looking at the vocal mic in front of me and realizing it wasn't on a shockmount as I was tapping my toes...we played without monitors and without headphones, but I knew at that moment (from all the time recording myself) I needed to stop tapping...you can hear it a bit during the breaks...not too bad. But...Doh!

Dig Methodist Coloring Book.

Hugh you rock, and you have some VERY powerful & influential friends.

LOVE Joe Jack Talcum & the Dead Milkmen....

Couldn't find the video yet, but I guess that's 'cause your planning on releasing it on CD/DVD ??

-you fuckin' GO HUGH !!! Your time is NOW.

nice work Hugo and Jack!!

that foot tapping thing reminds me of Seasick Steve----but he knows he's doin' it!!!

---I'm a foot tapper too----just no good when recording!!!!! (i've ruined songs by

tapping the mike stand)

Thanks, Silverdood - I think Methodist Coloring Book was the first song we did - we were playing unamplified and without headphones and it was not too far into the song when I remember seeing that the mics weren't on shockmounts, realizing I was tapping, instantly imagined all kinds of horrible thumps getting recorded and made a mental note to try to keep it to a minimum. I almost always use shockmounts but still ya gots to be careful...

Nice work Joe and Hugo, the tune surely gets the flow going in the ear and out the toes. No shoes required!
peace and good times in LA.
