Gritty little amp...! (Hey Duane!)
I wrote a year or more ago about wanting to get some nice dirty guitar tone at a reasonable price and I think Duane Flock mentioned the Pignose portable amps...I'd kept them in mind but never tried one until Saturday...a local music store had a "warehouse sale" and there was a Pignose Hog 20 marked down at about half off the usual price...I plugged it in and immediately loved the tone...verrrrry nice, sounds great clean or dirty and I have been having a blast with the little thing, cranking it up without being plugged in due to the rechargeable batteries...I feel like wearing it around my neck somehow and strolling the streets, Pied Piper style...maybe I will on Halloween...best 75 bucks I've spent in a while...lots of fun:

Thanks for the tip, Duane - it was you, wasn't it?

Hi Colin...it's solid state but it rocks...and I meant above that I wanted gritty tone at reasonable VOLUME...I have a Fender Vibrolux Reverb and a Vox AC30 when I feel like being tubalicious (and louder)...

Now I'm Drooling Hugh!

I like the idea of strapping on the Pignose and walking down the street!

Glad you like it Hugh!
They're perfect for the busker on the go! Hahahahaha
Just get yourself a belt hook or strap.

Those little buggers kick some ass. Buddie of mine had one years ago and he was a trucker that stayed out on the road hauling frieght. Each night he'd practice for a couple of hours before sleeping. When he came back into town, he'd have a new tune fired up and some great licks to go with it.

Why don't you try to mic it and see what it sounds like recorded. That may be really cool!

Have Fun dude!
D.
