Facebook
I know a lot of people here disapprove of the big social networking sites but I was wondering if anyone has started any group or anything on facebook.com for IAC? I dont know if facebook is big where everyone else is but its huge here in the UK and would be a great way to extend the community and get some publicity for the site.
Let me know if there is anything set up and if not if you think its a good idea. If you all give the thumbs up then Ill set something up and post the details here.

....Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Seems like a good idea and what harm could there be? Networking is what it's all about. I think that Facebook is less music orientated though than say MySpace as a "big social networking site" - I stand to be corrected :-).
Personally I don't use Facebook because I've heard that they use your personal info to target/bombard you with specific advertising - But, again, I could be wrong. Lots of hearsay and Chinese Whispers on the wicked world wide web :-).

I have a Facebook account... mostly for reconnecting with old friends. And it IS good for that. But I also put up a page for Hop On Pop because I want those friends to know what I'm doing with my music. (Some of them don't even know that I play music.) I send them here if they want to listen to anything.
And, as you said, Ben, networking is always good. Might as well have an IAC page over there. We already have one at MySpace.
Let's do it... Toby? Scott?

If either you Ben or Todd want to do that we have no problem with it, as long as it keeps the site in a positive light and doesn't turn into something that's not that. If you get questions from people, just point them towards our support box.
Lots of good banners at the Link to IAC page.

Along these lines, I constantly direct new folks to IAC when I get "hit on" at that spatial site...but only if I really like the music they make (lol)...

I have a facebook account and I will so totally join the group. What I will do from there is anybody's guess. lol. Like Laree said, it's an investment in time. But you can count on me for a random page comment every so often for sure! :-)

Yes Facebook is good for connecting with old friends....friends have contacted me there that I would not have expected to hear from...so it's interesting. I am also on myspace....I just quickly go in and click friends in or whatever, try not to spend much time in there. I do like being able to bulletin my friends though...that's cool. I have gotten some paid jobs from being in myspace....from my photography page. I got my photo page listed in the Phoenix Band Listing from being in myspace.

Sounds like we have some takers. Ill have a look into setting something up tomorrow. Toby, is there anything you want in the blurb or should I just whip something up myself?
I think the good thing about this if we all invite our music friends to join, then they invite their friends etc etc, it could be a realy good way to get the name about. I think IAC has more about it that every other website so should catch peoples attention, and as you say RR, nothing ventured nothing gained. Even if nothing comes of it, we wont have lost anything.
Also Toby, Todd and anyone else who wants some input, I think I will be able to make people group administrators. If you guys have a facebook account Ill set you up as one.

I'll try to think of some relevant points but a few things that should be in there are
a. that the site is not cookie-cutter like many of the other music sites. the founders are artists themselves and that one of our purposes is to help bring a more intelligent web world.
b. that we do have free pages.
c. that we take no commission on music sales.
d. something atout our stations/playlists being the best in existence. :D

good thinking Ben --
the wider the networking the better-----my wife and kids have sites there-----so I'll piggy back with her site!!
I have a site at wwwCruxy.com and I know they do something similar on "Second Life" ---never been there myself, but some folk are quite addicted to that one!
keep us informed if you want us to do anything in particular (8^D)
