Take What You Can - Version 2
This year I am really trying to make an effort to make each song as good as it can be rather than thinking 'fuck it, that'll do'.

Those who read my post when I first uploaded this song a month or so ago will remember me asking what I should do with it next. Firstly, thanks for all your suggestions, they made rewriting job heaps easier.

Well after a lot of fiddling about I have come up with an alternative ending. I did like the previous version but I felt it was incomplete and I wasn't sure where to go with it. I would really appreciate it if I could get some feedback on whether you guys think Ive gone in the right direction and which version you prefer. The first 3mins are pretty much the same but after then the differences are quite large.

Remarkable sounds you're making, Ben...it's almost enough to make me wonder if I should abandon my working method ("...that'll do") - LOL!

I'm out of my depth when it comes to analyzing/suggesting song structure - so I won't...but I'll gladly express my admiration of this fine bit of work - '90s Crowded House has nothing on you (and I mean that in a very good way - the Woodface CD is among my most-listened to albums from the era)...

Rock on!

P.S. I just had a listen to the first version (after having listened to second before previous comment) - and I can't say I have a preference...enjoyed both, found neither lacking in any way...

My REAL preference would be to hear you in Abbey Road, with a real orchestra backing you...and perhaps slinging an axe or shaking a tambourine myself...

:)

Ha, Id love to see it too. Maybe if we all chip in a bit we can buy an orchestra and share it between us. My preference would be to it on Wednesdays as Ive got the day off.

Couldn't resist returning, Ben - during the interval since my last visit to this blog, it occurred to me that if I ever DID manage to make it to Abbey Road, I'd probably embarrass myself by sitting around in Studio 2 playing Rubber Soul songs...lol...

Ha, I think I would struggle to to get anything done, I get easily distracted by buttons I dont know.
