Yeah V Jammers...I'll tell ya....I've seen many famous and even unknown
guitar players try to play bits and pieces of this magical Hendrix song but
none of em can even get close to SRV's versions...the improv and
feeling are just downright uncanny...doesn't even mess with the words of the
song...just gets to 'that place' and turns it into an instrumental which
breathes, snakes, and smokes up the fretboard...Hendrix woulda loved this IMO!

yessir, I think he'd be smilin' for sure....sincerest form of flattery...take something you love and go somewhere with it. YouTube has a whole bunch of Stevie, including one where he pulls out all the guit-slinger showman stops (behind the back and all), probably from the same venue as a couple of the others you have posted.
I tell ya, when I'm feelin' a little slow, I go to the Berry Oakley mySpace page and visit some Fillmore footage. I love a lot of music, but that lineup kicked my butt to really dig in to the muse, ya know?
