Hi Shane,
I've been wondering the same thing....I have not gone prime as I am so in debt it's starting to hurt...On a good note, I sold my first ever digital download through itunes .80 cents a couple days ago--I was so excited -- my girlfriend thought I received a call from a producer...I said "no ,,I made 80 cents isn't that exciting enough!!!!"
Anyway, hope you get some answers I'll be looking in...otherwise I need to go out job hunting...

congrats on the $.80 sale!!!
we have made enough cashola by selling cd's at shows to pay for some promo related items - basically, we make enough to support our habit - we all have day jobs. we have not ventured into the online selling of items - cdbaby, itunes, etc...
other folks, please chime in!

Hahahahahahahahahaha...ouch. Labor of love for me. Though I've suggested Alberto Martinez for sainthood, as he's actually admitted in public to buying my CD. Thanks again, Alberto!
My best "pro" friend tells me something like this - you can't sell without gigging. I'm beginning to believe he's right...if anybody figures out the answer to this riddle, please scrawl it on a scrap of paper and put it in a fortune cookie for me. We have Chinese on Tuesday nights.
Happy weekend to ya!

Ya know hugh, you have something there about "you can't sell without gigging".
First giging was big at the clubs, then it was big on MTV, Now I think the time is ripe for giging on the internet. Scott, You Hear'N" me?????
People today spend more time in front of the computer screen than anywhere else. And they get just as emotional about stuff just as if they were "Whereever". JMHO, But I belive this is the key to selling music. Think about it, Most people will buy if they can somehow tie themselves to a musician, band, style, I mean why do the young people all talk with those funny hand movements today? They seen it and now they are it. JM2cents
