who/where is the next true rock star?
When i was growing up and learning about the joys of rock and roll, one of the things that i loved was buying in to all the crazy debaucherous, drug fuelled, hell raising mad men and their antics. But if you look around the rock scene today they seem to have all phaded away, my girlfriend suggested Marilyn manson, but i see him more as a cracker novelty and not a true rock star in the classic sense. Where or who is the next mick and keef? the next keith moon? Iggy Pop, I mean even Francis Rossi had his moments. Give me a true rock star i can get my teeth in to i'm bored of all these pretty boys, Its like being locked in an elevator with Cliff Richard for gods sake

Ahhhhh the glory days ... Morrison baring his ass, Ozzie biting off bat heads, Pete trashing guitars, Alice Cooper shaking babies, ... It's all been done, as someone pointed out in another thread, the shock value has diminished ... and all the politically correct people have taken over the world ...
But it's not just the performers ... concerts are so tame now you can bring your three year old along ... the PARTY is no longer allowed, There are more wanna be cops than there used to be joints being passed around ... and they waste no time escorting you back to your ASSIGNED seat if you get out of it ...
The last concert I went to, one of these morons came up and told my girlfriend to put out our joint, "that sort of thing just could not be tolerated any longer" he said as he held out a trash can for her to throw it in ... (of course she faked the deposit), but three of the goons moved in close to us and were there through the whole concert, tapping their little billy clubs in their hands, while keeping an eye on us rule breakers ...
I vow to never go to another indoor concert again ... You can get wilder and see more action in an old folks home on Wednesday at noon ...

If the greatest talent ever appeared in the realm of artists, few would recognize it because they are focused on themselves.

"The last concert I went to, one of these morons came up and told my girlfriend to put out our joint..."
"Use a one-hit toker next time. "
That's exactly my point Larree ... Where is the "crazy" in that ? ... boring ... What happened to the PARTEE ? ... What happened to swapping spit on the end of a joint with that girl three rows up and two aisles over ? ... What happened to the seven paper cigar ? ... What happened to the atmosphere ? ...
Did everybody get old ? ... What the fuck ?

Yup. We're in real boring/conservative times for most clubs.
We were smoking weed & drinking cheap canned beer just outside a club -- that's a no-no, and now we're banned from that blub & that promoter....
Pretty gay-ass shit.
This isn't an interview for a 9-5 job -- it's fuckin' ROCK & muther fuckin' ROLL, biaaaaatch !!!
That's why it seems like Underground Haus parties, where the FREEDOM is greater, are the way to go these dayz....

I went to an interesting show this past Easter Sunday. And this juggler dressed up as Jesus juggling flaming torches to the song "My Dick" might be the most rock n roll thing I have ever seen. The next big thing????:
P.S. We got dicks like Jesus!!!

heh --I wasn't entirely joking-------if ewe look at the position "In My head" has held for quite a while---and the broad brush that ewe paint songs with, the in -your- face lyrics -----------------and the relatively short time on this site
----plus the larger than life persona
It may not all be to my personal taste---but for a relative newbie the stats are good!!!!

I agree with ewe, dude. Phlegm seems to be able to get "personality" to come through the keyboard, just reading his typing almost feels like watching a live performance sometimes, and the tunes meld with that personality so that you get something where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
Can there "be" a web star? There were video stars that, even though they may have SUCKED, looked cool on video back in the day (note: Phlegm does NOT suck, just trying to make a point here). If you are reading this you are staring at the modern day boob tube, could the "video star" phenom happen in this media? Or, has it already, maybe a time ot two?
I agree about the concert comments. I rarely see any now, maybe 2 or 3 a year. First off, I just can't get into the cost - I am not cheap or broke but I just can't see forking over $500 bucks to go see ANYTHING, especially when for the most part I have seen it before, and it was probably better then.
Granted, I generally go see "comeback" or "reunion" tours - so I expect folks to be a little more reserved cos we are all, well, old fucks. But still - if I have several Benjamins invested in the deal I am going to raise a little harmless but noisy hell. I went to see Megadeth with Heaven and Hell last year and people were bitching at me for being too loud. At Megadeth, down in the front. I was being too loud. At Megadeth. That guy is too loud, he shouldn't be so loud at a Megadeth show, tell him to be quiet. At Megadeth. Please do not shout so, use your indoor voice. I don't like this show, it is too loud, and that man is shouting. And drinking beer. At Megadeth.
