i ride away with horses
i ride away with horses in a great goodbye
glancing back briefly with a gleam
of dancers in our eyes
see me at the trail up ahead in the sky
a pack upon my back filled but leaking dust abounds
crystals falling and becoming smooth as glass,
an interior of water falls
and my horses unite gathering storms
in fields of lilies and wild grain sans rope and fear
the giant bears of time subdued in dreamless slumber,
an interior of caves with no maps
horses braying fathoms as their proud hoofs fall
beneath clouds which watch human beings toil for truth
braying tongues, clacking teeth beseech
as my limbs give way to irony once more becoming
an interior of questions that have no answers
unwilling to be lame we disappear
the horses returning to their circus from whence they came
carnival dwarfs and beauties of the trapeze
riding upon their backs amid the jeering, the cheering,
an interior of weird entertainment
and in the small torn blue tent I am now
nothing more than a wooden dummy moved
by the hand of the ventriloquist
tell your friends about me…..
come and see the show…..
“We regret to inform you that the tickets for tonight’s show
have been canceled.”

On the contrary...this is a poem from a couple of years ago.
Where have you been Code? Did you think that only 'flies'
rally around the glory, the pain, the romance..... of 'horses'
and those who ride them? Get your head out of the cAvE chap! :)

What a beautiful poem Larry..Thanks for sharing...:)
I've just been amusing myself seeing if i could come up with a tune for it (as you don't have one on your page) but alas-altho i love the words and images you've conjured-the meter has got me beat for making a tune sound natural over it..
