the perplex of art
I realize more and more that the works I really come to love in our culture are things I consider secrets discovered, like a TV show I just viewed for the first time yesterday where I had the feeling this was made just for me, it fits me like a glove, no one else could appreciate it like I do. When you embrace something out there, it's special. and if that's true, how can anyone expect their own art might be picked up on by the masses, you're lucky if you find even one or 2 to embrace it.

As much a blessing as that one or two embracing you might be... the real blessing is to be able to stand alone in the cold and embrace what you KNOW to be so. The "Truth" IS "GOD" and we can "Bless God" by embracing what we know "to be"... "should be"... "aught to be"... thereby feeding and nurturing "God" even when no one else will... giving "God" hope... letting God know this "CAN BE"... acceptable, valued, cherished, and desirable... even when "this thing being done" will make one so alone. For "IF" the Truth dwells where you dwell... any and all "true" Truth seekers/admirers, upon arriving, cannot help but feel your presence there... in that Truth. And they themselves will not feel so all alone as you once did... for you yourself have been there... all along... waiting for them... and their presence... where you now are... "Present".

Once art becomes "picked up" by the masses it becomes slightly de-valued because on the whole the masses are not that discriminating, they are followers and as such the 'following' becomes more acceptable than personal taste. Many listeners have no taste, they are sponges, it's up to the tasteful people to spread the GOOD word rather than the POPULAR one. In my opinion of course.

Yes, personal discovery certainly becomes a special thing for you. Just as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So is art. Any art that inspires or moves you in a special wat deserves to be appreciated and shared with others. This is where the masses come in. The more people that share what they like, the more a thing is liked. So, the ultimate compliment is when a whole bunch of people like what you do so much that they shared it with a bunch of other people. In this sense the voices of the masses cannot be ignored. Be it one or one million. It is art if anyone thinks it is art.

I recently saw the new version of the TV show "Project Blue Book" and was very excited that it was on but I too felt like I was the only person in the world who gave a damn about it.
