FANS
It's a funny word---sometimes demeaning I think----but we have 4 I know of!!
Bosco--- is an ex-pat American living here, in NZ, and I have met him face to face---he plays a mean blues guitar----
Leslie is our muse---she buys our songs and tells her friends ---she is beautiful and lives in Texas!
Tim is gay and travels the world---he is a free spirit and very funny--
Lyn is an ex-pat Kiwi living in Chicago---she is kind and thoughtful---and sometimes misses home----------
we love these guys!!!!
Do you have friends who make you feel good about your music?

I only have one fan so I place her on a pedestal.
On hot summer evenings I take her to the bedroom and turn her on.....

Hop On Pop
|

The guy who played keys on the Hop On Pop record actually owns the label that released the record. At rehearsals he would inevitably tell me how this song or that was "oddly constructed" or, "How did you make that work?!?!"
He also told me that my lo-fi demo contained the kind of songs that he "always wished that (he) could write."
Ain't no higher compliment.
But the best fans, are my kids, who dance around like mad when I play their favorite songs of mine. And, they actually have good taste (from Ramones to Green Day to Beethoven to African folk music). So... yeah. They make me feel good.
And one more:
Steve Ison.
His compliments about my lo-fi stuff really make me feel good, too.
It's nice to have fans.
God bless the Internetsz.

Our (Bat Lenny) biggest fan is probably JAWZ-Jilly-Soodonymph. Her comments on some of our music has made me blush. She applies her praise pretty liberally across this website but I feel her appreciation of our music is genuine and somehow special. We also have a fan in Korea that has written to us. I consider Terry of Kozy Kings a fan. So that's England, Korea, and Canada. Hey - we're a world class band! There are others here that have shown a real appreciation for what we do but I don't know if they are "Fans". Locally of course we have friends and family, but other than that we are a well kept secret.

I/We have a bunch of friends who call themselves, in joking, our groupies. lol I feel really funny about calling people fans etc. I just don't feel comfortable about it. They are just our great friends who like to hang out with us when we play music. I guess my/our greatest "fan" is my sister Wendy. She's the best of all. She is always telling me how great I am no matter how bad I suck. lol She gets the crowd going. She's just a blast. She even helps me set up and tear down and carry the equipment. LOL She's a lawyer. So, over the mic, I announce free legal advice as prize, from the crazy woman who is dancing on the table. We call ourselves "Thelma and Louise." deb

Groupies are good...just watch out for the Gropies, Deb (lol)! I had a Gropie once upon a time...grabbed me buns as I was walkin' out the door after a gig...for some reason I increased my pace and never looked back - I think I've got a lot to learn about gigging...

Ken-----the feeling is mutual!
Todd----You are lucky!----my youngest won't have a bar of our music, even though his older brothers are in the band! But-----I remember hearing Perry Como saying (years ago)his kids loathed his music-----that makes me feel better!
Stegor--Jily/Jawz/Soodo' helped us a lot in the beginning----we owe a debt of gratitude too!
Soodo----Please read the above---we love who you are!
Debs (Thelma or Louise?) Actually I do similar antics when I support my sons bands-------It's amazing how one crazy "fan" can work up a crowd!!!
Hugo---we wanna see the bruise?
Satch---who wouldn't love Susan Raven?
Beth---Hey I agree---and I'm pleased you called them friends!
As I stated at the beginning of this thread------We accept the word "Fan" because it's embedded in Rock lingo------BUT---we need them more than they need us !!
Don't We??

Rob,
I would say your right that we do need the fans, they keep us going.
They also need us to provide something that moves the heart. We give them something to hold onto something to make them feel so not alone in the world.
The funny part is they do the same for us.
It seems an equal partnership to me.
Stegor,
Part of being a fan is being willing to share an honest opinion not some one who tells you your great all the time. I consider myself a Bat Lenny fan.

I only have one fan....
...and its on the ceiling!!
Just kidding, I have a few people (not many) that I have to thank for keeping me going, at least by having songs on IAC I don't have to bore my family and friends with my music anymore. My wife tells me I am obsessed! She is right of course...
