robot band-future of music?
New Zealand band The Trons is made up of four robots who play guitars, drums and keyboard to convincing effect. They sound like a perfectly quantized version of The Velvet Underground.
Meet Ham the gregarious frontman (vocals, rhythm guitar), Wiggy the lead guitarist who plays a single string, Swamp the drummer (you know how they are) and Fifi the keyboard player, most recently completed, who pounds out convincing basslines in the lower register of his/her/its instrument.
It's as if Captured By Robots had finally killed off its human.
The Trons take the stage on June 21 at the Ignition Fringe Festival in Hamilton Central, New Zealand.
Hopefully their robot manager (Murraytron?) will line up some stateside gigs so we can see their act in person

Yeah the head on that guitarist dude is nearly as big as some singers I've worked with.....
