rebuilding boatshed studio
We have this old boatshed by the sea, where we have done lots of recording over the yearsjust an old tin shed with skylights, concrete floor, work bench etcmany of our songs were successfully captured here
But civilisation has caught up with us, and we can't keep the noises of outside world away, so we are rebuilding the whole thing from the ground floorplates to the roof.
The ammount of materials and $$$$ spent has ballooned to 3 times the original estimate but it is looking like a small church now with white lined walls, soundproofing, glass doors for the amazing views, and carpet and curtains to soak up the sound.
This has meant spending a lot of time offline, and I apologise to my friends here, whom I have taken some time to reply to
The job is nearly done and I will put up some pics on our page in the next 2 weeks
love to all
Rob

Sounds FAB, Rob, and I thought of you all when I was staring into the azure sea of the Bahamas recently...packed a harmonica but forgot about it til it dropped out of my bag when I got home (lol) so NO MUSIC for me while I was there...AAARGH! I look forward to seeing your pics and hearing your new sounds!

That sounds like an enormous undertaking. But one that will be worth it in spades. Your de_scription paints a great picture. I also look forward to seeing the results of your hard work, and to hearing the music that will come. Good on yer, Rob!

---the really interesting part is ---the old boatshed was the first building in the bay, built by my old man when he came back from WW2 in 1949---and it hadn't had a change since then-----we pulled out all kinds of old memorabilia (junk to some), even an old coal range (unused) !!---and horse shoes!???

Hey Rob,
I hope you kept a few pieces of the old boathouse to put into the new studio. Put some original pics on the walls or something.
Congrats, and I'm sure all that hard work will be well worth it!

thanks Terry
I know the practical Artists here will understand what is involved in rebuilding ------as opposed to starting from scratch!
We had no choice as this building is on foreshore reserve----- and once gone, cannot be replaced, that is the law here!
