stations!!!
Here's a topic that may raise some hackles!
We have 7 stations and cover a hugh range of genres plus established and NEW music on iac!
We notice that the more popular stations, often keep the same succesful Artists on, and don't add those coming through-------that's their choice! also they have over 100 songs, which means they can take a while to upload for those with slower internet!
How do these new artists get airtime if the exclusive "Top " stations basically ignore their requests?
we control LAID BACK LIFE
SOUTH DOWN UNDER
ORGANIC SOUNDS
THE NOBODIES CURSE
BOB DYLAN TRIBUTE
NATURE ENTER ME
THE END GAME
We welcome new and old and if it doesn't fit one station we'll put it on another, it's called
GOODWILL------and we have met some great friends with this policy!
It is a bit demeaning for new muso's to ask all around and get no feedback!
we all have to get started somehow / feel free to ask for an add at any of these stations!!!

For this same reason is exactly why I try to spread myself into different genres. I USUALLY don't go to a lot of stations asking for play time, (although I have in the past few days). Very rarely will I ask for one of my songs to be played if everybody is already tired of it. I recently took 5 songs off of my page because no one was playing them. I try to tell people about my NEW tunes and if they don't like them, they don't play them. If you don't stay active on this site, you take a dive in the ratings. Most of those people at the top sit at their computer most of the day (and night). I stay busy enough that I can't do that so I have to settle for the spot I'm currently at. One of my stations made into the top 25 once, and none of my own songs have ever made it below 1,000 in the ratings towards #1! My main station Flock of Tunes states "anything goes" and "songs that are Unique". Flockit Reserves is the cream of the crop and are my own personal keepers, while Just Flocking Around is the tunes that still deserve to be heard. I go to the New Songs page at least 2-3 times a week and go all the way down the page. It changes hourly and I'm sorry if I missed your song. If I like the tune I hear, I'll play it. I would expect everyone else to give me the same courtesy. I love the Goodwill thing, but I would like for people to play my tunes because they Honestly like them.
I'm 50 yrs old and I'm still doing what I love to do without geritol and viagra and I'm making some people happy. I Thank everybody that sees music the way I do. For those who don't play my songs, I wish them well. At least they heard my tune and they know what not to sound like. : )
Peace, Duane

Nobody owes anybody any airtime, ever. Don't even WORRY about being on somebody else's top station. The real beauty of this place is: make your own station. Or seven. Or twenty! That's the spirit! You'll hear a lot of great music in the process, and if you pick tunes you like and can manage to write a few meaningful words about them, you'll almost certainly make some friends in the process - if that's what you're looking for...One thing's for sure - spam is not the answer (LOL)...

We're on plenty of stations and I never spam our music. We're not there because of our musical genius, but more than likely because I manage my stations pretty well. I have about fifteen going under "Mortamor" and only God knows how many JamNight ones(which I "inherited" from Ash). One of my very first stations was an invitation only one where I solicited Artist for their own music. I told them to pick a song of theirs which meant the most to them and explain why that was the case. I posted the song and their comments at the top of the station. I'd then pick one of theirs that I liked and posted it with my comments at the bottom of the station(I had a batch of my own songs in the middle). Since I wasn't familiar with too many people here I soon ran out of invitations. So I decided to make this offer available at the top of my station. Anyone who came "spamming" by had the opportunity to get TWO of their songs posted on this station. Yet EVERY SINGLE SPAMMER just shouted in the shoutbox! Not one of them took the time to LISTEN to what the station manager wanted to achieve with his station. Anyway, I don't know that I was the first to do this type of thing, but Brian Booth picked up that torch and ran with it far and wide. At least two of my stations have NO Psyche's Muse at all(probably a good thing). And one time I added every single song available by an artist who wasn't even active anymore(which some people would consider a no-no). I added eight of their songs and would probably have added the other five, but they would no longer play so I'll never know. Three of my stations are ranked in the top twenty-five, all of them having over 150 songs; the highest rated one having 296 and counting. The songs vary from the more popular to those which have NEVER been on a station at all. There are quite a few songs that are on no other station but mine. Some people may feel obligated to respond to "spam", but not I... unless that is, it's from a friend!... but then it wouldn't be "SPAM" now would it. I do check out the spam sometimes though... IF they're smart enough to leave a link. And I enjoy some of the music I've found that way too. If I like what I hear, even though it may not get on the station that was spammed, it'll show up somewhere among my fleet. And lastly, if I was concerned about slow loading pages I'd have to begin deleting half the songs on my Artist Page first(ha ha). -M-

When I was a newbie, I visited several stations and left a request in their shoutbox to give me a visit and a listen, maybe an add if they liked. Now, if I see a station that might be interested in my music I will leave a link and the rest is up to them. I don't send "bulk spam"; don't know how and really don't care to learn! Its just too impersonal. I have many stations and usually check out the new artists and add them if I really like them. Recently I was called back to work and haven't had a lot of time to spend at the computer. (today I'm off) yay. I recall an incident at garageband a few years back. I was reviewing a song that was pretty good. The artist was a little off-key but I felt that he was just inexperienced and a bit nervous. In the review, I said as much and asked that he stay with it, relax, and it would come together for him. Also told him the song had much potential, etc. Turns out that most of his reviews were very nasty and mean and he sent me a very sweet personal note expressing his thanks for my honest and helpful review. I checked his page a year or so later and he had songs that were getting great reviews and managing high 3 & 4 star ratings!! I was so happy for this kid. I'm not saying that my review influenced his decision to stay with it but I kind of like to think so; to feel that a positive act drew a positive result. Kind of swayed from the subject but, yes, I believe GOODWILL should be a part of every aspect of our lives. Its what keeps us on the road to a better self. Be proud Silverwood! You are not only making new artists feel welcome but you are doing something good that gives you personal satisfaction.
