John Prine - Dead at age 73.
EPILOGUE:

Later today, after posting a comment on John's page at IMP, and adding his song, "Bear Creek Blues", to my Legendary Music station, I was stunned and deeply saddened to learn that John had died today at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was 73. The cause was complications related to the Coronavirus, COVID-19.

A legend has left our midst leaving behind one of the great legacies in Country music.

Given the path my life took earlier today, tonight my spirit is somewhere in the 6th dimension.

Neil

Sad to hear. His wife tweeted last week and I was under the impression they were over the hump. A great loss. RIP.

One of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century. And a local guy.
Maywood is just a couple of 'burbs over from the one where I live.
Feels somehow more personal that way.
Rest in peace, John. You will be remembered.

My friend Stan admired John Prine greatly. So did I. Esp. in our twenties.

After 35-40 years, I recall prob'ly my fav John Prine song,

"Mama dear your boy is here
far across the sea
searching' for that sacred core
that burns inside of me,
and I feel a storm all wet and warm
about 10 miles away,
approaching' my Mexican home.

Hope you're smiling down on us John, with the angels singing' your songs...

I only really started to take note of JP last year when his new album came out. My dad was always a fan but I didn't recognize his talent until much later than I should have. He was an underrated brilliant songwriter who I have learned to place in the pantheon with the likes of Dylan and Tom Waits. His covers are wonderful as well. I am very fond of his rendition of That's How Every Empire Falls.
