Plays are at an all time low.

Visitors to page almost zero.

Daily plays show nothing, Monthly plays shows hundreds. Chart ratings remain at top ten to twenty percent of total songs on site as they always have been (????).

I dunno. I just listened to a couple and I think they're pretty good for an amateur.

Hey Kozy, I know what you mean. Someone else was telling me about the thousands of plays he is getting. Hmmm.

I'll be by tomorrow for a listen. With my coffee.

My own online experience became much more enjoyable when I stopped looking at playcounts and charts and all that. Hint, hint...lol...

I'll drop back for a listen after I get home from work.

Still, top 10 to 20 percent is pretty good.

Cheers

Yeah we are top of the list for plays and get a good number by the end of each month but not as many as you'd think seeing 100k a day, logged in. Since there are a 100k a day and we are #1 on the charts for several weeks you would think that we would get at least a 10% of those checking out who's #1 but it's more like 0.33% a day. Which we are grateful for so many people checking us out and listening but we also promote alot on myspace and other places too. We are always dumbfounded...my guess is that people go directly to stations they are familiar with or pick randomly from the front page...I don't know. Stats like that would be interesting to know. There's gotta be better ways for the artists to draw new listeners to their stations, since we have so many listeners each day! hmm

All of my plays are from my website Oflockit.com and from my Myspace page where I have IAC players on both. There's around a dozen or so good friends that keep me on an old station or two here (thank-you). I may get a few plays from a new song if I post a blog, but my stuff gets old pretty fast.
I work a 10hr-day job and practice two times a week with a cover band plus play gigs 2-3 times a month. I spend about an hour a day at my home computer, so I get back in return about what I put into it. Of course, if I wrote tunes people liked, it would pretty much take care of itself. I don't know where the 100k people are, cause it's not my page either. That's OK though, one of these days I'll get it right.

The counter isn't how many songs are being played but how many sessions are open on IAC pages at current time. That includes people working on their pages and stations, a lot of different areas.

For the record, sites like Quantcast and the other site measurers are well known as total shams, they just aren't accurate in any way, rather they are laughable.

Sorry Toby.
It said on that site that IAC was a "Quantified Publisher" - or registered user. So I assumed you guys were using its services.

Thanks everybody for the comments and attention.

SQURLY: Shh, the blog police are listening. :-))))

HUGH: I know what you mean about dwelling on the stat's and I place less and less importance on them as time goes on, but I do know that my page is receiving little to no action. IAC is "big city" now and it's easy to get lost in the crowd. (The pipeline is like a small town where everybody knows everybody!)

MY-T-HI: Thanks for dropping by I'll be sure to check out your music tonight after work. By the way your name reminds me of the name of a classic rock band I play in -- Ten Mile High, or TenMiHi for short. Would that be "great minds think alike", or is it 'fools seldom differ"?????????? :-)

Gv: Most interesting to get your comments on "life at the top". Music is all about communication for me, but you guys are trying to make a living at it as well as communicate. What's the easiest way for me to buy your CD -- I've been considering that for some time now but just never dealt with it.

DUANE: You've got to be more like me than anyone on this site -- blue collar, guitar player who plays bass in a cover band, family man. Too bad we can't be buddies in real life.

TOBY and BRUCE: Yeah, analyzing stats can be a blessing or a curse. As they say: "Figures lie and lies figure." It's easy to be duped by numbers. Toby, as I said before, I'd rather see my song on the front page than my blog. Any chance of getting an alternate list of more amateur/lo-fi stuff on the front page to catch the casual browser? ( I know we've had this discussion before, but "the squeaky wheel, gets the oil.")

I just stopped by your page and listened to each song there. My faves are the last two...makes me wonder if you might want to put them up at the top of the list to draw in first-time visitors...? Another thought is that maybe the "kozy kings" moniker is somehow not capturing people's attention to the extent that just being yourself would...? Generally speaking, I find your work to be charming and enjoyable, but I do notice a fair amount of what might be called "rhythmic distress" in most of the tunes (I say that kindly, with a smile, and I admit to the same symptom on many of my own tunes, especially when I'm playing the drums). Perhaps you could do an experiment and choose one to redo, paying extra attention to locking in the rhythm...

It is difficult getting heard on here. I had more luck on some other sites getting some songs in the top spots in some genres and sub genres, but not so in IAC...the highest I ever got here was 31 for one of my songs. I had one song in the top 5 for 3 months and it was no. 1 for 3 weeks...I was actually ahead of Van Morrison for awhile...he he
