Artists who sound just like IAC artists (This is uncanny)
Artists who sound just like IAC artists
First, I want to put in a disclaimer here. The songs I am linking to are not on IACmusic.com. They are copyrighted works which I am using for demonstration purposes and are only short clips. This is a legal representation of copyrighted works under Fair Use guidelines.
When I first joined here I was listening to all the artists who were active on the Pipeline at the time to get to know them. One of them was Gilly Slinn. As soon as I heard her voice I thought - "Where have I heard her before?" Then I realized she sounded like an uncredited singer on a tape my kids used to listen to when they were little. It's called "Animal Express" and if this guy doesn't sound like a cross between Peter Gabriel and Gilly Slinn:
Olly Octopus
Then the other day my wife was playing a compilation CD put out by a local "Adult Alternative" radio station Cities97. This song came on and I went "Woa! How'd he get on there!?" This really knocked me over. If you don't know which IAC artist this sounds like you aren't listening!
THIS IS UNCANNY:

You're right - I'm surprised it worked at all when I tested it. It's fixed now.
Oh - and TC, of course you're right too.

Wow ... somebody else has a lisp to their SSSSes ... Ha !
... maybe I should cover this cover ! .... it's right in my vocal range and I always liked the song anyway ...
now to figure out those chords ... hmmmm
Oh ....and I can definitely hear Gilly in there ... he's got her accent down perfect !
... I did notice right off that he has the lyrics in the wrong spot though ... :)

Sam you've got me curious - what lyrics are in the wrong spot?
Harry Nilsson's version of that song is one of my all-time favorite radio hits. Especially where ho goes "woa- woa-wa woa..." Another one of those musical moments.

Nilsson's version is top notch ... sure beats Buffets ...
Everybody's talking at me
I don't hear a word they're saying
Only the echoes of my mind
People stopping staring
I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes
(Paolo has "Only the shadows of our eyes in the first verse ... doesn't make much sense in context to the lines before) ... but hey ... it's creative license ... :)
I was trying to figure out the Chords on Paolo's version last night because it's definitely in a better key for me ... I was having trouble and now I know why ...
My guitar has been propped in a corner for a week ... and the weather has changed .... and I just hooked the keyboard back up and of course I'm WAY out of tune ... now back to tinkering .... hee hee

Wow that is a SamCat doppelganger...
I give the kids extra dessert when they ask me if that's me when the Beatles are playing on the stereo. Or Clapton. Or Cale. Hahahaha, happened at lunch today...but maybe they've caught on...
