...for the equally curious...
Slow Fire ( IAC mastered from mp3)
Out of curiosity, and because it had not yet been mastered, I submitted Slow Fire to the IAC mastering service. I now understand the mp3 is a low quality file, but it's what I had on-hand. I think it turned out pretty well. Definitely an improvement.I put both versions back to back for the equally curious.
More thoughts??

Wow, if IAC ever needed a good example to promote their mastering service then this is it - it sounds like you moved from the bedroom to the concert hall and added a coupla new musicians :)

All things considered, I'd say I'm quite pleased with the result...I've also designated them both as non-chartable for the rest of the month, just to be fair because I'm not using this post as a promotion....simply sharing. It is, however available for station play if anyone is interested.
As an observation, the turnaround time was longer than the advertised 7 days, but who knows how busy they might have been? Maybe due to the holidays?

Wow is right, the remastering pulled out sublties that were lost in the lo-fi. The stringed insturments sound gorgeous. The harmonies are fab. This s fine song.

Sounds really great after the mastering. I love your music and the blend of different instruments and harmonies. When you going to tour the UK ?

Yeah, I can even hear Jim shaking the "egg" now. I'm thinking the next one we finish will get submitted as well. I'd like to hear what'll happen when they get a higher quality file to work with.
Lace, thank you for the fine compliment...I'll pass it along (thanks, also, for posting it to your station).

I can only listen through my crappy laptop speakers but even through them you can notice a huge difference in clarity and volume.

Dirge-mum, that's a great idea...I'd love to double or triple bill with some IACers there.
If and when we make it to the UK, I'll bring a set of ear goggles for you, Ben LOL!

Very nice job. It made it wide and the eq was just the ticket. I added it to my station boys!

DK, I had only enough time this morning to find the site and have a quick look...so far, it looks open to unsigned UK bands. I'll have more time tomorrow to dig in deeper.
If it all works out, Lace, I'll be more than happy to pass along your "hello" to Pete and Rachel (man, wouldn't that be something?). I'd better check my passport....this already feels like a bon voyage!
Larry, thanks for the add and all your encouragement. Very much appreciated, as always.
I just posted a slideshow from our latest gig at the Blue Collar Happy Hour in the "News and Happenings" section. Excellent photos taken by a talented friend of ours, Brandon Mosley.
