Ottoman Blues - An evolving experimental blend of computers and guitar
I just uploaded the results of the collaboration between myself and Jesse Adams that spawned from my thread about Midi Drums. I think Jesse's done great job on the drums so a big thanks to Jesse for that!
This tune has been quite a long time in the making, the result of various experiments with different types of computer generated music. The end result though has very little of the computer in it!
The bass riff came from playing round with tracker on my old Amiga1200 (probably octamed). I rapid got bored with it as I'm not a natural computer musician, so could think of little to make it interesting to me.
When I upgraded to my current computer I installed another tracker that could save out the song as a sound file and I then experiment with playing guitar along with it. The result were still poor and uninteresting.
Step 3 came with the acquisition of Horny for AmigaOS 4.x, a much more modern midi sequencer, I started playing round with drums sounds and patterns. Wit yet another program I could integrate audio and mid in the same song, sounding better but couldn't get the drums to sounds right. Hence my recent thread on Midi drums.
The final step was Jesse Adams' contribution with a much more natural sound drum track.
Here's the finish article Ottoman Blues. The title is inspired by the slight arrabic sound of the "chorus", which came out almost by accident as I was jamming along for ideas!

Guys,
That is some VERY tasty playing all around. Smooth, natural and jazzy feel. Great work :)

I did all my listening for the last few days on notebook speakers and can't bring myself to do that. When I get back to my "real" setup I'll gladly check out the Ottoman Blues...rock on, fellers, nice to see collabs happenin'!
