Great gig! Harddrive home ...
Just back from a great gig at The Rose & Crown, Charlbury near Oxford. The place was rammed as they also had a winter beer festival on. (I was driving and drink coke, poo ...).
The down side was a virus I'd beeen fighting off finaly over took me at the end of the first set, I almost lost my voice. A couple of cups of sweet tea help keep it together for the second set, but I couldn't trust it and had to 'chant' a couple of numbers rather than sing them.
The audience were great though, plenty of positive comments about my guitar playing etc. Tommy the landlord offered a rebooking in 6 months time or so. So all was well.
The drive home was very hard though, with a lost voice rapidly turning into flu aches. The 100 miles back from Oxford seemed to take hours ... thankfully it was a house PA gig so I didn't have much gear to get in when I got home. Should be sleeping now as I've got to run a lunchtime jam tomorrow, but haven't "come down" yet.
This business is one hell of a hard mistress sometimes, but I love her! :-)
After tomorrow I've two weeks before my next full on singing gig, so plenty of time to rest, although I'd like to get a few busks in... shouldn'y risk that I think.
{edit} rebooKing not rebooing, :-) {/edit}

Thanks!
Got through the jam okay, no singing ofcourse, only one singer turned up so we did loads of instrumentals, quite a bit of jazz.
Only got a week to get my throat back in gear not two, so will be going for maximum rest and hopefully it'll kick back in in time. Orange juice, honey, and sleep!

BTW on a comedy note:
Having been living alone for the last year and a bit, I've developed the inevitable habit of talking to myself. But at the moment, I can't hear what I'm saying!
And when I just knock over the can of soup I'd just opened instead of
Oh F***!
it was more like
o fu cough **.

Speedy recovery to you, Andy! Getting rebooked after doing a "lost voice" set speaks well for you, keep it up...

I've heard a few people say that, about it recuring. Not a good month for me to get something like that. Got more gigs than for ages, then march is quiet, couldn't have got it march though could I *&%$"!
