For those of you old enough to remember....
These guys were a huge influence on me before I ever starting playing or singing. Having two older brothers made me a fan when I was well under ten years old. Thought some of you might enjoy a little Everly Brothers....

Some of the best songs ever written and (IMHO) the best 2 man harmonies ever heard.

Very cool! You can really hear where John and Paul got their harmony ideas from when you listen to this.

I've definitely derived some harmonic inspiration from those fellers. I didn't know their Pappy was an axeman, that's interesting. I recently caught some segments of old Johnny Cash shows on PBS TV and he definitely had some cool shows. I love the idea of sitting around talking interspersed with some low-key live performances like that.
Of course I think of John and Paul first when I think of vocal harmonies, but despite the fact that I had them in mind when doing my "band" version of THE LONESOME ROAD I started thinking of the Everly Bros. and I think they can take credit for inspiring the resulting harmony.
Thanks for sharing, Kurt!

Wait I saw the Johnny Cash movie, didn't his brother die when they where kids?
And I don't remember a third one.

First off, John, one brother one way or the other, I mean, who cares??
On a mildly more serious note, Simon & Garfunkel first came to mind as direct beneficiaries of the Everly's sound.
Their harmonies are direct reflections of the Everly's especially their earlier efforts.
And Hugo, I too thought it was pretty cool to see that dad was picker and grinner!
Tres cool...
