I think Jimmy Page is the greatest guitarist ever, followed by Hendrix. At IAC, aside from Townshend I'd say my 2 favorites are Fozzie and Jack and Schnauser.
Meanwhile, I started an entire station of all the solos that I'm the most proud of, all but 3 are guitar solos.

Fozzie and Jack!!!
yes! I really should have mentioned them.
And I agree that the 2 jimis are at the heart of all things in Rock guitar, but I dont really listen to them anymore...
I do listen to Hendrix actually, but rarely.
When I was in Jr High and Highschool Jimi Hendrix was ALL I listened to.
I and my small circle of stoner friends, we practically had a church.
I think I listened to Houses Of The Holy around christmas last year just because I stumbled on the casette tape while I was digging through some old stuff.
That was one of my Favorites at one time as well.

Yes, best said that the 2 "Jim's" R pretty well on everybodies top shredder list... and we still respect their abilities even thou no Nu traX R being laid, Xposed at this time...Butttttttt A lot of the contempory players of 2day R just try'N 2 imitate their styles N their own way...(myself Ncluded)...I guess that ol' saying, "copy is the best statement of flattery, and makes you a ICON" I'm still try'N...

On IAC:
Hugh Hamilton
Bob Elliott
Neither are flashy, but both have tasty licks and style coming out of every orifice.
Of course, if you want flash, there's always Larree.

Off of IAC:
Robert Quine
Richard Lloyd
Richard Thompson (who is actually here)

Yes, Auset.
Shame on me for not mentioning Brad amongst the virtuosos here... and I'm not sucking up to you, your man's contribution to my tune is simply remarkable. (And it's been agreed upon by all involved.)
Excellent player.

I guess I would stick with Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Roy Buchanan, the master of the Telecaster. May he rest in peace.

Yes, one of the best ever. I saw him in Austin years back and he was smokin that Tele. Got busted I think it was in Georgia, on a drunk charge and died in the drunk tank. What a lousy way to go.

I buddy of mine owns one of Roys old telecasters.
I really liked his playing too, he's one of the tele Gods along with John Jorgenson, Red Volkart, Brent Mason, and In my oppinion Brad Paisley, who I think one of the greatest guitarists alive.
Brad has chops, but what he really has is a tone and a melodic sense that just sets him apart from so many others.
And he's got more fantastic songs on any one of his records than most people could hope for in their entire careers.

I have 4gotten about Roy and his Telecaster perfection of tone, along with Mr. Pete...Roy always had the fire touch even on melodic, mellow blues progressions...the list of virtuoso players is being Mpressively long...Gotta Keep this blog post going as most of us musicians have 2 work a "steady PAYING" job or gig besides the Music Ndustry & deserve a LaBoR DaY celebration of guitar tweak'N out...whose your faves as we all strive 2 get better and better....
