John Ludi retires...millions yawn.
John Ludi (of the Quiet Earth Orchestra, Soft War, and several other projects over the years) celebrates three decades of laboring in obscurity as a recording artist and political/environmental activist by giving up on both!
What this means to you, the IAC Forum reader, is that all the of the John Ludi currently "approved" album releases are now available as free downloads as zipped files with MP3s encoded at 192kps along with cover art and a lyric sheet.
They are available at the John Ludi website, as well as a full list of reasons as to why this decision has been made:

Sorry to hear you're so disheartened John. But your plan for your future sounds more rewarding. It's always a tough process to make that decision, but like all tough choices, it's freeing once you've decided.
Who knows? You might again find enjoyment in just making music without the added chores of promoting. Once we stopped trying to get rich at music, it was even more fun than when we first played together as kids.
Looking forward to hearing your post-retirement state of mind. You might consider reuploading the songs on your IAC page, they don't play.
John at IAC.
John's site with free downloads and a rip-roaring read.
Take it easy,
Glenn

Hi John,
yes, please add some songs here on IAC, and I swear there are stations that will play your songs, such as "All Dead Dictators"!
rock on 8-)
best wishes, Magnetfisch
btw, concerning "our" good old planet earth, listen to The Good Earth by Mike Adams,
and it will for sure linger your worries concerning the planet (the situation is serious but not desperate, please keep that in mind)
excellent with pictures from space telescope hubble (BBC: superb vistas from newborn hubble):
Secret Universe by diatonis
and here on IAC, there are engaged artists, such as the greek Vasilis Babounis, with a song against hard drugs: i fili mou danai
and bands like the Green, AM, NIN, etc.

Now, I am not concerned about your retirement. Not because I am disinterested, but I am certain that because after doing this for so long, you will NEVER be able to give it up! It's in your blood. Face it.
Maybe you won't be promoting as much (or at all), but you will go on creating. And that is what matters.
And...
You're in Chicago?
We probably have some mutual friends. Maybe we can even meet somewhere and play some music. You're a damn good musician. Keep having fun with it and take solace in the knowledge that you're speaking for God, in His voice. That is, I am convinced, what music is: the Voice of God. If Mathematics is His language, than it must be true. (I have a blog about that somewhere on here.)
Enjoy your connection. And... dig it!
EDIT:
And we ALL feel like this sometimes.
I feel like it all the times, but I just gotta keep getting the music out.

Gotta agree with all of the above.
.
Glenn's right; that's a rip-roaring read on your page, and I might add quite a bio on your page here at IAC.
Best to you on your spiritual journey, John. I hope it includes more musical offerings here as well.

Hey...thanks for the responses...some good thoughts here.
Glenn-Thanks for the kind words and the heads up on the profile songs. I had not been on here for a while and they seemed to have "gone missing". As far as enjoying music again, I have blown the dust off my guitars during the past few weeks...it does feel good to play again, but the recording part of my career is going to stay on the furthest back burner for the foreseeable future. While the fact that our era of digital duplication has helped to diminish the majors gives me nothing but glee, its impact on indies is cause to grieve...I'd love to see the "Donationware" model that is being pushed by people like Jill Sobule (and currently, myself) take off as a meme. If listeners become attached to a certain performers recorded work, then having to subsidize new works through donations may be a way around the piracy issue...though admittedly it is a solution with a great many inherent flaws.
Magnetfisch-Thanks...and thanks for the friend request on MySpace. After logging on and off a few times, I was able to get the player to work long enough to listen to some of your own tunes...I liked them!
Larree-Apologize? Nah...I am the way I am and I think what I think and I make no apologies for either...but I do appreciate your enthusiasm...and I don't take it personally that you referred to me as a clown. Were it a mime, I might be offended. :)
Hop On Pop-Thank you for the complements...and I have always viewed music (and art in general) as a way for Universe (my current name for what others call God) to communicate higher truths and messages to us...which is one of the reasons why I find it so heartbreaking that our hyper-commercialized culture has debased it and turned it into a mere commodity...like wallpaper for the ears. And hey, I have not jammed in a good long time...I'd need to find something larger than my little practice amp, but who knows...it could be fun.
NOBODY for President and Village Jammers-Thanks!
This site has really developed since I first came on here...quite an interesting and lively community...I look forward to exploring it further.
