What are you working on at the moment?
I'm looking forward to hearing new songs from everybody. Anybody have stuff they are working on?
What inspires you to write new material? When you have new songs in progress - what obstacles delay the final product?

I’m almost done mixing the last song of our new album “Wooden Soul.” Then I’ll take it to get mastered. Can’t wait. Well, apparently I can wait sinc it’s been a project for about three years.
What inspires me to write? I always have way more things to try than time. I mean, I might run out of inspiration if I ever had enough time, but even then I kind of doubt it. The recorder on my phone has 200 ideas right now, and I have a couple old digital recorders packed with ideas. Meanwhile, bringing ten songs to actual recorded completion took me 3 years.
At least I got a new AKG 414 microphone which is quite a step up in quality, so I’m hoping to be faster better.
The obstacles are mixing, my job, my house.
Bursting with ideas, though.

Yeah me to, I'm always working on a bowl. Sometimes in a bowl. depends on how you look at me. But currently, I am working on a collaboration with Paul Groover. Hope to have that finished within a week. However, in the middle of that I got side tracked by a new musical in my head and had to at least get the basics on tape so I would not forget it. There is no telling when inspiration might hit me. I once wrote a song in the middle of a roller coaster ride. Shit just comes at me out of no where. Miracles happen everyday! Anyway, in addition to this, I have three completed song tracks waiting for lyrics and shit. No hurry, will get to them when I get to them. Under pressure from my publisher for more hip-hop stuff. Some things never change. Choke up Larree. That Killa Cali all day long. The world looks strange from this bowl. Just bought a new Sax, oh boy, new toys!

Trying to find time to get the guys together to rehearse the last couple of songs that are going to be on my album in progress.
Not sure when it's gonna happen.

Great to hear Bob, Stoneman , Hop on Pop (Todd) are happening and negative tendancies is cooking up a storm of late, terrific works there with Father Time .
As for me, well nothing happening right now, busy with personal issues, family stuff. power of attorney has been a major part of my thing for a number of months doing important things, sold our dads place, moving him to assistance living complex, it taking up most of my time. Its Spring, so doing some garden work, planting tending to that, a few more inside jobs in the home like stairs and kitchen.
There is one project though with a singer. wait for it. you'll hear it soon enough, one of IMPs own an all star singer. I think our best singer songwriter IMHO
might be until next year 2020 before I get back in the saddle with songs
cheers

I feel ya, Bryon. Caretaking can definitely take you out of the game. Just gotta flow with it. Sometimes you end up in a different place than the original destination. But it can be just as if not more than fulfilling.

I second that on care taking ... we've had a little set back at the Shoe City. Half of us, DJ Julio aka Judy smashed all 3 bones in an ankle and had to have major surgery inserting 2 titanium plates and 7 screws in her leg - ouch! After 3 months she's just starting to walk again. But my life has sure changed being the only mobile one and she sure hasn't gotten in the studio much. So no major projects or collaborations at the moment. I'm very psyched to hear the above mentioned ones though! Can't wait to hear ....
We have versions of about 6 songs - with the few we've uploaded as singles in the past few months, it's all adding up to Shoe City Sound Vol 5 eventually. But none the final, satisfying one. It's all a work in progress. My favorite so far is the one I've been spending time with recently. Very minimal and jazzy. I'm putting lots of vocal harmonies and stuff and trying to relax into a loose easy style of singing. The big paradox - it's really hard to relax and have things be easy.

Been working a LOT of overtime at my job. Twelve hour days two-three weeks at a time.
Did some re-mixing to an older tune of mine from the archives.
(Give it a few seconds to start.)

Bob, Yes, the legendary AKG 414 is quite a workhorse microphone. Been using mine for 40 years now and it still sounds like the day I first bought it. By the way, I bought it at a yard sale. The people didn't know what they had and sold it to me for $40.00. They also sold me an old Yamaha DX21 for $40.00 I still use that one to. Enjoy your new Microphone. You'll never regret buying it. I have several Blue Mics but I still prefer the sound I get from my 414. Best mic I ever had.

I'm working on a Tribute to My Ol' Pal Don. He left me some scraps of paper with some song ideas. Mostly just words that rhymed. Then I found at the bottom of a page with instructions to "Write This". And, So I have. Hope to have it out soon. I find myself scrutinizing it to death.

Leo my son and I have 10 songs taped and ready to polish up. Very plain and accoustic right now but that could change. Getting down some finger picking and hand drums (cahon and Denji plus light tambourine sounds. Mostly playing small live concerts and Farmers Markets for Pizza and fruit ice creams though. Dolores, so sorry to hear your band is half broken-----hope that heals up sooner rather than later

Thanks, Rob. Judy's healing up really quickly according to her Dr. so the worst is over and we're getting back to normal (whatever that is) little by little.
