by a motorhome, fit it out for recording, travel a lot , have a computer,,bring my few keyboards. record something like I'm on the road again visit you guys at iacmusic where ever u live jam out, record cool stuff with ya continue to travel and spend it all doing that...gonna never work again for sure if I won or had a million, although maybe I do : ).

If I had to spend it on music?
Probably get a real nice sound system. And then I would buy a couple of guitars and basses. A real drum kit. Some drum machines. Some recording equipment. And build a soundproof addition to my house so that I had a place to play and record without bothering the family.
Then, I would maybe help my friend Matt out with his record label (to which I am signed) and invest in some new marketing initiatives so that the label could stay afloat.

With the Big Buck - build a small studio on the shore of a lake. Invest in a top notch wireless system and record the songs I write while I'm waiting for the fish to bite.
10,000.oo - Take ( Grass Fed Head ) to A studio and finish it.
1,000.oo - Keg-o-beer, sac of grasss and hang out at the lake for a week.

Move to England even sooner than I might have; and help myself, and possibly more than a few other people here and there, throughout this wide world, to evolve.....Through Artistic /' Theatrical / Filmic Endeavours, that were all tied in with original music, by amazing unknown artists.....

What would you do with a million dollars ...If you had to spend it on music?
Divvy it up between charitable organizations who endeavour to help disadvantaged people in third world countries through music as a therapeutic tool to help treat mental illness.
10k? same
1k? put on a small gig at a local venue to raise awareness of the plight of those above.

If I could only spend it on music I'd start a publishing company and buy a recording studio with all my favorite gear and instruments. I'd publish, record and distribute my own songs as well as discovering and producing other artists. I'd also finance a tour for a band to go out and perform my songs live as well as making some videos. I'd hire people to pitch my songs to the managers of famous artists. I'd probably find a business partner since a million doesn't go very far these days.

Bank it....then after a couple of years start living off the interest...what the hell we are musicians right??!!! We're broke now so what would 2 years more of eating bad sandwiches and playing non paying gigs really hurt..patience is key to everything.

Was going to say a million bucks would probably just cover my childrens' educations till I saw the "spend it on music" part. If I got to spend a million dollars on music I'd first use the money to subsidize a period of writing, then build a "real" studio, acquire more instruments, record an album and mount a tour with a rockin' band full of musical guns for hire. I'd also develop a "writer's retreat" program, say a week in the country by a lake for maybe a half dozen artists to meet and work under the guidance of an experienced mentor. I have an online friend who has attended such events under the tutelage of Ray Davies and I think that is amaaaazing...when it was all over, if it all went right, there'd be another million. Lather, rinse, repeat...lol...

oh yeah....for $1000, I'd buy another 16 studio tracks.....
but for NOW, I'll just have to settle for the 9 we're gettin' !!!
It'll be all worth it, if Aimee ends up having time to put in on a couple or more tracks...

$1million - build a collaborative collective, including studio, to build community through music.
$10000 - Rental on consistent, dedicated rehearsal space, including live recording.
$1000 - Flying Red over from Vancouver to finish up the 5+ tracks we've been working virtually for too long.

$1 Million here, in this town, would buy either a nice house in a bad neighborhood, or a bad house (fixer-upper) in a good neighborhood. But good neighborhoods have the worst neighbors, I find: judgemental and not as impartial to nudity (mine) as other neighborhoods.
Actually $1M here in this town would by a funky old home. (almost).
$1 Million could easily go in the bank and the interest would keep me afloat for the rest of my life. I already have great friends to make music with, already have the system down of a) buying cheap instruments and gear used (craigslist) and c) making the most of that good old cheap gear. I have everything I need.
$ Million would also enable me to have a new mistress each year. A good mistress is worth her (or his) weight in gold as a muse. I think a good mistress would be one about 30 or 35 years old. One with some mileage and knowledge and able to carry on a conversation as well as shag like a minx and make me cum from my boots.
All the great artists, painters, musicians and sculptors seem to have had a stable of nubile mistresses. You can see (or hear) it in their works.
On the other hand, Walter Carlos took $1M and became Wendy Carlos. So there is always that to consider.
$10K would help me repair the old VW van. That gets me around (invisibly) into places that no other car can go. VW vans have a kind of strange zen passport for meeting people and getting down the narrowest and steepest of gravel roads that lead to splendour, beauty and sublime locations down by the river.
$1K would help me fix up a few things and maybe buy a new computer. Or buy an IAC Premium membership. That would be cool too.
