Stupid Idea
So I'm thinking at work this am..... What If we all did a collective Album of the Kayak Winners and released on Spotify Apple and so on???
We could call it Indie music peoples Best of 2024??? Let's face it there may be little to no Money in doing so, But it may be a promotion tool for the site??
It's a Though and nothing More. I'd be interested wht the Board would have to say on it?

Would not work if anyone has posted up there already. It violates both Spotify and Distributers policies, would require legal releases, etc. Dealing with these biggies are a nightmare of convoluted BS.

I don't know if that's quite accurate Lance. i believe a song can be posted under multiple project names. I could be wrong though.
the issue I see is in order to get on those platforms someone would have to pay a fee to Distrokid or whoever. and, I also question how much value would result from it. Neg Ten has our records on a huge range of sites and that hasn't seem to have amounted to much of anything.
Other than that if somebody wants to step up and do it, I don't see why not, but you'd have to get permission from all parties whose songs are included.

I would not be opposed if someone wanted to take their own time and energy to do it. Mixed results are all i ever get on these things, But you never know where something is going to eventually end up. So, I try not to close the door on any opportunities to be heard.

You could always try I guess. So much jumbo jumbo in those updated policies. Music is worthless anyway these days. People pay for access and then get whatever they want, the artists... worse than ever unless you can pack venues and sell tickets for rediculous prices, along with your t-shirts, coffee cups, etc. it's worse than ever!

There might be a way, but I sure don't know how. Even using the Facebook link provided here gets me flagged on my personal FB page now. Ridiculous! I see copyrighted stuff up there all the time, that is sold for money! It so screws indie people!!

Yeah I get it Guys and Gals. My Idea was not about revenue. But, Exposure. I was like what could it hurt to try? I'd be willing to ask permissions., and pay for it. and Compile it. If there's intrest from the winners Call it The Best of Indie? I'm open to whatever. Figured something from nothing, is still something???
