So it finally happened.... I started my own station
Ive been a prime member for about 3 years now, but never quite got round to creating my own station. I want to create a station that contains only songs that I really admire and wish I had written myself. Hopefully it will also get across to you the multitude of genres that I love and that influence me.
If you have a song that you think would be suitable or know of an artist that might suit this station, please let me know... The station blurb is as follows:
The Golden Captive
For those who like to do things a little differently.
I pride myself on writing music that Ive had to think about a lot. I tend to take weeks crafting a song and try to create something truely original. This station is dedicated to those who have had the balls to step out of thier comfort zone and write something a little different.

Good for you, Ben - sounds like a superb station idea. I wear my influences (proudly) on my sleeve, so figure I probably don't qualify.
Might I suggest The Man With No Band as a unique character, artistically and recording-wise? As far as I know he uses only a mic that he somehow rigged up himself...sometimes...or usually...it sounds like it (lol)...but that's part of his charm for me...
Have fun building your playlist - I look forward to checking it out. Part of the great fun around here is when thoughtful station owners really make an effort to come up with interesting songs AND comments...

Gee ... thanks Hugh ... but it's not that I have the balls to be different so much is it is the fact I have no sense .. (or cents) .. LOL
Ben .. I would suggest off the top of my head ... anything from Al Stravinsky and Dick Aven ... oh and Alice Temple ... I'm sure there are hundreds more but I think you will enjoy these Artist as they all have fine production sounds and still do things a little differently ...

Congratulations on taking the plunge, I find I visit my stations a lot coz I know I'm gonna enjoy all the music, just let it play in the background while I'm doing other things.
A couple of interesting artists that spring to mind are.
The Jack Paddle cover band
Alice Temple
Also Sam the man with no band had a thread running where he was nominating his "Artist of the day" which had some good artists listed.

Maybe you might like mine.

Station-building is fun, and leads to the discovery of lots of great material. I suggest Bat Lenny, Shaved Fish, SuperPuss, etc. It might help to do a random search, just to see what pops up. There are all sorts of interesting songs here.
