Gimmick? or something useable?
Even if I had $6500 burning a hole in my pocket, there are way too many buttons, switches and dials for me to understand, much less utilize to their potential, but I can think of a few IAC'ers who'd be able to stretch this thing out:

The Moog Guitar

Gimmick? or something useable?

Popular Science

In the September issue of Popular Science, Mike Kobrin reviewed the Moog guitar—an incredible instrument whose electromagnet pickups actually change the string's motion. Stick it in "mute" mode and you're playing a banjo; turn on "sustain" and it holds notes indefinitely. It turns out, however that writing and reading about the guitar can never be quite adequate. So Kobrin sat down and filmed it in action. Rock on, after the jump.

Oooh... I've had my eye on this for a while. I can't justify the cost of a "good" guitar let alone one of these at over $5000, but this is my dream instrument at the moment. It's actually quite a handsome instrument too, unlike the tidy-bowl blue Robot Les Paul. Electronic Musician didn't give it real high ratings, but I think the price was a big factor.

Hey Steg-o-rator, if the nasty color of the ORIGINAL robot Gibsons is what's turning you off you're outta (or maybe in) luck...they're doing the "normal" colors these days on several different models, and a couple of months ago when I looked the price had dropped by about 30%...or maybe 40...(who's counting?)...but who knows, maybe they all sold out...

Still...that's an entirely different thing...it's the range of sounds that's drawing the "oooooooohs" here...ain't it????

:)

Yeah, totally different beast, I'm just comparing the visual beauty of the two latest "revolutionary" guitar designs. Of course the Gibson still looks like a classic Les Paul, it's just that color looks so wrong. I look at guitars like I do classic cars, like sculptures, and the Moog is a nice design.
