You know, with like 2000 people linking up to it, and 2000 stations playing it?

Could it have something to do with his talent?

Not to diminish Steve's undeniable talent in any way, but he pretty much defines "active community member" here at IAC, which probably does a lot to generate interest in his page and his music... although I have heard rumours that Steve doesn't actually even post here. Supposedly he's assembled a huge team of orphaned Venezuelan children who work 16 hour shifts at the battery of computers in the media room at his Birmingham compound in exchange for food and shelter and the promise of citizenship. If any of them slip up in their online impersonations of Steve and compromise his ruse, they are deprived of their food rations for a day and threatened with immediate deportation. He operates on some kind of a "three strikes, you're out" system, from what I've heard.

...but whatever works, right?

Or - you could post a comment about how lame the Big 50 is and start a war and piss half the community and all the staff off and then when the blog finally leaves the front page somehow you miraculously become the golden boy of the pipeline!

See, some folks can get away with saying just about anything without tarnishing their character and some of us can't. It's just like real life.

I'm one of those people who has a hard time giving others a hard time because somehow I get taken too seriously. So from now on if I'm ribbing someone or "busting someones chops" or "taking the piss out of someone" (imagine my fingers making the little quote marks ala Chris Farley) I'm going to end it with:

I'M JUST KIDDING!

And I'll try to balance it by saying something nice, like "But he is really talented and puts a lot of time and effort into promoting other talented artists and he's a real asset to IAC and the Pipeline."

I'M NOT KIDDING!

From time to time I've seen folks post a blog along the lines of "How To Succeed At IAC"...in my opinion it's like this:

1. Make the best music you can, however you yourself define "best"

2. Spend some time running one or more "stations" - there's a ton of quality music here, and sooooo many of the artists are inclined to stop by your station page to say hello and thank you, and it's also very common for them to visit your artist page as well. Spice up your station with thoughtful DJ comments, and at all times be sincere.

3. Don't hesitate to share the gems you find with others. Station adds, dropping by and leaving notes to your online friends with similar musical taste to yours, even blogging about the work of others can all accomplish this.

4. Bring your real-life friends to the party. Invite other music lovers, whether they're musicians or not, to the venue - there really is something for everybody here.

5. If you think there's a way to improve things, suggesting it politely can not only enhance your standing as an active community member, it can actually wind up being embraced by Admin and implemented.

6. At all times be yourself, and be sincere.

7. If you bump into someone you'd like to work with and you have the time and means to do so, suggest it. Many of the folks here are totally solo and enjoy the opportunity to do collaborations.

OK,it seems the cats out of the bag finally Gremislav...The company known as S.T.E.V.E I.S.O.N INCORPORATED has been employing these children for years...
They're fed an endless musical diet of Beatles,70s Bowie, 60s Psychedelia,strange novelty records and jingle-jangly harmony pop whether they like it or not..

Whilst receiving their musical indoctrination, they get given a crash course in how to blag n bullshit their way thru posts n reviews utilising phrases such as 'sunshine smiling' 'cod-soulin' and 'torchadelic'..

They are then employed by S.T.E.V.E I.S.O.N INCORPORATED to promote the brand 'Steve Ison' on OMDs over the worldwibe web..

The 'Big 50' post as mentioned by Stegor was made by a malfunctioning entity in the conglomeration known as 'Steve Ison' and has since been relieved of his post and sent back to Venezuela..

To make matters more confusing,this post (naturally)has not been created by Steve Ison at all, but by an employee acting on behalf of S.T.E.V.E I.S.O.N INCORPORATED..

In that capacity we'd like to thank Bob for his kind and generous-spirited post :)
