Life Without Lolly
'A daydreamy look into anothers heart and the simplistic melody actually guards a very deep emotion and makes the loss break open like a fresh wound, a startling song that washes over you kindly yet leaves a feeling of guilt, that we might all miss someone one day, and however much, still be forced to live on, laughing, struggling, enjoying life, despite feeling like our right arm is missing, or something worse, a part of our soul...'

Ever occur to you why some of us can be this much concerned with animals suffering? Because government is not. Why not? Animals don't vote.

Wanna Be Around (Paul Killington Vocal)
"This soldier, I realized, must have had friends at home and in his regiment, yet he lay there deserted by all except his dog. I looked on, unmoved, at battles which decided the future of nations. Tearless, I had given orders which brought death to thousands. Yet here I was stirred, profoundly stirred, stirred to tears. And by what? By the grief of one dog."
(Napoleon Bonaparte, on finding a dog beside the body of his dead master, licking his face and howling, on a moonlit field after a battle. Napoleon was haunted by this scene until his own death.)

Don't Give In
'In the wide open spaces of loss there is always a gap where we can sneak back in to the valley of life and struggle on. Where we go in our moments of grief is unclear but we do go somewhere, maybe down a crooked path of long shadows and chill winds that bleach us into acceptance. Our emotional ties can so easily sever, we lose people along the way like pieces of a puzzle that won't finish fair, but we carry our broken with us and trace the outline of who is missing on those quiet days. Auset sings so beautifully for these unfathomable fragile doubts. I wasn't bricked up ready for this song to happen upon me tonight! Though the only colour of blue is sad, here is a song that brings comfort down like a warm blanket, just to know we all feel sorrow in different ways and at different times shows music as tender as this is as comforting as comfort gets. A Mesmerising, haunting song for the soul.'

Will You Be There?
'He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog.'

Little Mac
For friends of animals, reading the horror of what happened to this innocent one year old family dog is painful and upsetting. Some people cannot read the details, others close their eyes and think that if they don't read it it's not happening. But animal cruelty is happening everywhere every day. Animal abuse happens all over the world and in every country. We must be the eyes and ears of the defenceless, we must try to pass on compassion to those that don't seem to have any. We must try to educate children and teach them to be kind to animals and to understand that animals are our friends and they deserve to be treated with respect and care at all times. If we do not teach the younger generation how to care then we have failed them and they in turn will fail the animals. Please sign petitions against cruelty and speak up for the voiceless. Help to make everyone that you know aware of animal abuse and by example show that it is important to do all you can to stop it. We cannot turn away from the suffering of sentient beings. If you see abuse to animals report it to your local animal welfare/protection group. The family dog is often the first animal to receive a beating in a dysfunctional violent household. Animal abuse leads to abuse of human beings, this is fact. So always speak up and try to do your best for them. We must make sure little Mac did not die in vain. Please help those that are not able to help themselves and be a voice for animals. Their suffering is our suffering. - Maria Daines
