Talent is just something dormant. one has to develop the gift for it to be useful, then it becomes a skill. Talent unearthed and unworked is useless

Talent is that thing you knew you had long before anyone else did. It is the proverbial carrot being dangled on a stick in front of you. Yet, you don't know if you even like carrots. You only know what you have heard about them. Talent comes forth regardless to whether you need it or not. It is the one thing that nobody can give or take away from you. Talent is a birthright that must be nurtured and respected or it will get out of control. Talent is wasted on those who have none. Many would kill to have it and others would die to give it to someone they love. Talent makes those who have it lazy because they don't have to work as hard as others. Talent cannot be discovered because it is already there. You cannot discover something that already exists. I wish someone would explain this to the history teachers who talk about Christopher Columbus as if he found something new. He found a place that was already inhabited. Okay, went on a little rant there but you get the gist of my point. I hope!

The thread title is a quote by Jerry Seinfeld.
