the elephant in the room.
Yesterday was somewhat a mixed bag. All who listened to our new tune loved it, but it is frustrating how hard it is to get folks to click on it. Understandable considering the horrific state of popular music but we all need to be out there convincing potential listeners that indies can fill the void if ya let them.

Dear Father Time,
Please do not despair! You are so fortunate that you write great songs and have a great band. I envy you and identify with your musical ambitions and aspirations. 220 people clicked on a post of my song (Simple Song) but only one person (Tom O’Brien) left a comment. I’m so grateful for that one comment. (better than no comments) So far 70 people clicked on your post
and you got 5 comments for your song. (One of the comments was mine) To make a long story a little longer- a small number of comments is not a negative reflection on Negative Tendencies.
Breaking the laws of chance is not an easy thing to do. Although the site has thousands of members, only a few regularly post on the pipeline. I’m grateful for any comments on my songs and I don’t blame anyone who doesn’t listen. Music and how people react to it is a highly subjective thing. But it’s quite apparent that you and your band have the goods!
In Music,
Richard

You misunderstand me a bit. I don't mean to come off as self-important, but feel our music is really peaking these days. I certainly have no issue with those who are checking it out. but I feel all of us, the indie world as a whole, are not getting the kind of traction we deserve. and I think that's a matter of circumstances more than anything, the time period, the climate for music, etc. It's almost like we need to take the listeners by the hand and lead them to making a bigger part of their lives more music-oriented. No one will regret it if we lead them to that place. but I feel we have to try to engineer the public to give a crap about music again if that makes any sense.

Here in Ottawa I've been trying for God knows how many years to get people to check out the site. They have all kinds of crappy excuses not to do so. I's either i'ts not main stream thus it can't be good or I don't wanna catch a virus. Go figure.

well plenty of people online, we don't want to have to sign them up for the internet too. ha ha
The tantalizing part about this question is, it's really close. I've seen many make the leap to loving music again. but how to do it en masse? How to lead one person on the path the easiest possible way?

I do understand what you’re saying, FT and I don’t think you’re coming off as self-important.
I just don’t know how to go about getting more folks interested in indie music. Like Norm said: people outside of this website tend to follow the main stream, the established recording artists. They choose to conform to what is popular and have little interest in discovering new talent.
TV, movies and sports seem to be dominating the culture, these days. I text the link to this site to lot’s of people but nobody responds. I give my CD’s away but nobody owns a CD player. It’s a tough mountain to climb but it’s worth the effort.
To be continued…..

I dunno, a lot of talk about how AI is changing the industry/music biz...
TikTok people seem ready to listen to anything that entertains for a moment, including AI, that explodes with "entertainment" gaining a foothold...
Like the K-Pop Demon Hunters...netflix #1 movie
Music the touches hearts and minds, they do not need that...
Or maybe there will be a resurgence of quality music, in ways we cannot fathom...but through a glass darkly...

People will eventually realize that real music is just better. AI is so new that people are enamored with it. But that will wear off, and people will rediscover real music.

Yup Larree, I agree.
In a broad general view, the art of creation helps balance a person.
Art started out in ritual, theater, the Muses, greek tragedy and comedy, a way to open up about our experience, maybe learn, or to be helpful as a guide, or celebrate, or contemplate the mysteries, the Eleutian Mysteries...
"We enclose immensities..."
