I have been around American Indian people for over 30 years and so it was natural for me to start playing the flutes from that part of the world in late 2002. I don't read music in any form nor do I have any knowledge of Western music theory - I simply play from the heart. I 'write' all my own music - Well, I don't 'write' anything but just wing it, which means playing as it comes. Sometimes I am led to think that my flutes play themselves! I mostly perform solo but also with a great variety of other musicians, both acoustic and electric. I listen to many types of music and unconsciously feed my ears. I will often pick up a flute and play a part with a piece of music if it is in harmony. I like playing music live with other people but love recording even more. Either Side Of Now - Medley Music to move your body and your soul. A crossfaded medley of all 11 tracks on the first album by RedRobin & GreyHeron, called Either Side Of Now. The music has been described as "Soulful, haunting, and at the same time carries a sense of peace and completion".
Goblins Theme (SuperPuss feat. RedRobin) The original song is entirely written, performed and produced by SuperPuss. With her permission I chose this particular song to record my flute over, initially just to establish if our two sounds would be comfortable with each other and as a first attempt to explore the possibilities of a future musical collaboration with SuperPuss. I started recording my flute thinking that I would only play a few bars to check the sound. However, it sounded right so I just carried on playing until the end! The
Smile Like A Child Hum asked me to play flute on his song at an open mic gig. It worked well and I subsequently asked him to record with me and keyboardist Steve Jones. Song written by and featuring Hum, who plays guitar and sings. We have subsequently included it on our album "Either Side Of Now".

3/4/2008 9:50:38 AM Hiya RR, Thank you very much for taking the time to stop by and have a listen to my tunes. As you say, we've been sharing conversation on the Pipeline but never really checked out each others' music!! I just had a listen to your tunes and have just added 'Bears Not Forgotten' to my Top 20 station. That is such a heartfelt song. I adore 'Syntheny for Jay' too and LOVE your flute over the phasey, swirling synth pads. That is just magic! I'd love to work with you on a collaboration too if you are keen. Peace and love....... 2/29/2008 3:58:08 PM RedRobin ... just thought I'd stop in and say hello ... sorry if I'm a bit testy at times (sometimes there's extra lumps in my mattress) LOL ... I don't think I've ever told you how much I enjoy your music .... I really Love the sound of an Indian flute ... I put some of your music on my Bare Thread Stations way back when ... I have sort of neglected those stations lately and I'm thinking of either reviving or retiring them ... I will get some of your tunes on newer stations soon either way though ... Have a GREAT one... ! Sam

1/13/2008 10:34:30 PM Hello Red Robin!!! Thanks for taking the time to come by my myspace site to be added as a friend. As discussed in a previous thread, negative or not, myspace is good for networking for us indie artists. I loved the pic of you in the headress on your myspace site. Some of my good friends from college are Navajo from New Mexico and one is the head Tribal dancer. I'll never forget the Pow Wow at my college in Colorado and I was asked to join in a Navajo family dance for my friends Tribe. The music you created is very spiritual in feeling and very soothing. It brings back many good memories of staying at my friends house in New Mexico and listening to this kind of music while the fireplace burned and we sat around and conversed...Great music. Good luck in all your future endeavors and I'll see you around on the pages at IAC. Slimdog
