Chicago: I'm playing a show on Jan. 4
If you're gonna be in or near Chicago on the 4th... I'll be making my first live, club appearance since the dissolution of the original Hop On Pop lineup.
Molly Malone's
7652 W. Madison
Forest Park, IL
9:00 p.m.
I don't think there's a cover, but who the hell knows at this point? (I'll find out for sure.)
It will be me solo and acoustic playing songs from the HoP record, new songs, and songs that I wrote many, many years ago.
If you're gonna be in the Chicago area around that time, I would love to see you.
And, I'll bump this as the day gets closer.
GIMMIE SOME LOVE!!!!

So yeah. I'm getting geared up to play. Out. Weekend night. For the first time in a while. It's been a very trying week or so, so I'm planning on pouring myself entirely into the music; it should be cathartic.
Some new songs. Maybe some of the old punk tunes that I can really cut loose on. If you can't tell, I'm chomping at the bit. I'll channel the soul of Bob Mould, and then put all my pissed-offedness on top of that. Drink a bottle of fuck everything, and spit that into the microphone. That oughta show 'em who's boss!!!
I will be motivated to make a new record by the end of the night.
But will the new record be ready to be made?
Damn. Time to play.

Okay, so... how did it go?
I thought that I was supposed to go on at 9, but apparently, it was 10! Sadly, that made me have to leave before hearing much of the headliner (Trakan), who I really did want to see. I hope that he wasn't offended. Grrrr.....
As to my set, it was hit and miss, in my eyes. It took me some time to readjust to hearing myself so LOUD!!!! I kept wanting to downplay it. But I knew that I couldn't. Awkward. Self-conscious. At least at first, it was. I thnk that I did settle in a little bit into the set and played well, but not great. (I think that age is taking its toll on my already limited range. I found myself having to slip into falsetto more often than I used to.)
Still, the response was positive and I am looking forward to hopefully getting back out for more shows. Get the blood pumping again. And get the incentive going for more writing to start happening. It was interesting to see the response to some of the newer songs. Now I just wanna get back out there with a band, so that I can see how some of the songs that really need a full band will play out for an audience.
Okay... let's keep rolling and pick up some steam.

Performing is just like bowling, shooting pool or welding. Gotta keep at it or you'll need practice for sure. However you probably noticed or "felt" more inconsistencies than the audience did. It is definitely more fun with a band though isn't it.
Thanks for the update. goTta go my daughter wants to chat with my wife.
