I love Camper Van Beethoven!
Okay, well, I love the early albums of theirs, the later-period stuff gets a little watered-down, but there are still some great tunes on there.
Still, albums like Telephone-Free Landslide Victory and Camper Van Beethoven are classics in my book. For the "pop" tunes like "Take the Skinheads Bowling", "Joe Stalin's Cadilac", and "Good Guys and Bad Guys", as well as for the cool little faux-exotic instrumentals.
Also, if you get the chance to see Monks of Doom (if they still exist), you should absolutely go. Those are the guys from the band that did NOT go on to be a part of Cracker. Astonishing musicians.

I have to say I listened to Richards Scotti's Music too as well as the very gifted Natalie Brown's tunes and Larree's Guitar God tune is one of my all time fav's and countless others here. the Selection and coolness of it all is rather overwhelming and daunting. I dont think I will ever be able to listen to everyone....
I did listen to a few albums in the last week one being Susan Raven's and one of my students cds as well and some others

Thanks Bryon. Coming from you that means a lot to me. I also want to thank you for adding my song: "Brother John" to your station and giving it the best review I've ever had in my life. I'm sure it helped contibute to raising the song from #15 to #7 in the Classic Rock Genre. I admire your generosity with all the artists here. You've obviously "been around the block" and know your stuff.
Todd, the human encylopedia of music, you amaze me! How do you find the time to listen to all that great music and still be an artist and whatever else it is that you do?
I love Al Green, one of the last great soul men. I was just listening to "Everything's Gonna Be Alright".

I won't say that I "know" they guys from UO, but I have hung out with Nash and Blackie on a couple of occasions. (We have mutual friends.) And a former member of UO (not a core member, but the guy who took over for the departed King Roeser at the end) is playing on a couple of songs on the upcoming HoP record.
But yeah, I'm a fan.
Although, I'd argue that Saturation is their best -- where they finally figured out that Cheap Trick-meets-Neil Diamond thing that they had been going for all along.
Anyway... it's weird how small the local scene is, even in a big city like Chicago.

THAT one is a MASTERPIECE.

Nice listening you're accomplishing today!
I was suprised to see that Hugh Hamilton mentioned you starting to "bond".... with that crazy phlegm-guy. But I DO hope he's right.

Well, I'm not Mr. Phlegm, and don't really care what he'd like, but I, for one, am VERY impressed that you are a fan of The Clean. Some of the most intriguing experimental punk/underground music was put out by this European band in the late 70's, and through the 80's.

I think that in calling Anon E. Mouse an "anon" is to assume that (s)he is, in fact, known by another name around these parts, and is somebody that we all know.
If (s)he is, one clue to their identity could be on their personal page:
"Tucson az U.S.A"
Now do I really think that it's Phlegm busting on himself, or did they just adopt an imaginary hometown because Phlegm is their favorite target right now?
Hmmmm....
-Sherlock
EDIT:
And if it's not somebody known by another name around here, then they're not really being anonymous. (Although I don't believe that this is the case.) And, no matter who they are, who cares what they think anyway? We all have our opinions and we all have to deal with those of others.
If there's one thing the internet is good for, it's developing a thick skin.

One of the most amazing bands, cut down in its prime.

No problem, Todd. You inspired me to go searching for obscure bands and I'm just really excited that I found two unique bands one of which (Rosewood Thieves) actually remonds me of your sound to some extent. The Volunteers are much more punky but I think they're both two great bands destined for success. I look forward to your opinion because you're such an expert on obscure bands! Erick Jordan of the Rosewood Thieves has one of the best rock voices I've heard in a long time, kind of a blend between Lennon and Dylan. The Volunteers bought their own recording studio in Williamsburg Brooklyn (Monsterland Studios) just so they could totally control their sound. They're outrageous but commercial, very hooky and edgy with clever lyrics. The Rosewood Thieves are kind of Beatle-like but modern sounding.
Whenever u have the time to listen, I'm be around.

I DID listen to The Rosewood Thieves, and and did like them. The sound is a little bit nondescript, but the songs are pretty good. I'll be curious to hear more from them as they mature as a band; the raw materials are there.
The Volunteers' music player did not work for me, even at home.

But anyway, thanks again for those links! And I will try to hear The Volunteers again sometime soon.
