Ok, the 2021 Golden Kayak nominees and ballot are here!!!
Here's the STATION of Nominees which includes a link to the ballot at the top.
The nominators did a tremendous job this year and dare I say this batch of songs is probably the best in the long history of the Golden Kayaks. Good luck all and please remember, to get nominated by your peers is a pretty huge honor in itself.
One other thing, if you find any issues with the operation of the station or survey itself, write me asap at indiemusicpeople2 @ gmail.

I am so grateful and very surprised to have been nominated this year at all as I have been so useless and inactive here - so whoever did nominate me and a couple of my world music songs - many thanks - I am so grateful. I have been busy playing flute in a new band called AfroWelsh Connection which is a fusion of African Kora and folky instrumental and Mandinka song. We have played several gigs and festivals mainly in Wales and one in Bristol, despite all the Covid crap and we are planning on recording an album in the New Year - so I have been doing things but not here I'm sorry to say as it's not my solo work. I have written a piano melody with half a song which I will share here when and if I finish it!!! I'll ask the band if they're happy for me to put their music up here but meanwhile you can find AfroWelsh Connection on Facebook. The two world songs I put up here were done in lockdown - my friend Moriba sent the kora track and I added flute here - it's not live but gives an idea of what it should sound like. I'm hoping and praying it'll be safe to visit Gambia this year so we can finally get back together to play! Love to everyone and sorry again for my intermittent involvement here but believe me - this is still my favourite music site and you'll never know just how important this place has and always will be.

Wonderful words Chandra, you are much appreciated and loved by this community yet dont denigrate yourself or put your down, its been a tough year, challenging for all of us, and we understand there is only so much time and things we can do outside of our immediate circle, I have gone through a lot with my dads death, taking care of his estate the past year, and 3 years of power of attorney before that, it drained me, I gave up trying to do much music but trotted out a few things ,did the best I could
I am still recovering from the depression and pain of dealing with the estate, my brothers lawyers the government. I am absolutely wore out, but try to motivate and encourage others despite that
cheers and all the best

I was truly honoured to be nominated in the category of Easy Listening/Soft Rock and of Best Male Artist.
I wish to thank those who felt my song, "Treasures", and myself were worthy of the respective nominations
I also wish all nominees the best of luck and add that regardless of the outcome of the voting and of the Golden Kayaks, all members can consider themselves winners for following their dreams and putting their songs and music out into the world. Congratulations to each and everyone.
As an aside, and I have inquired, notwithstanding my having been nominated, interestingly I'm curious as to why my name was not included on the ballot in the category of Best Male Artist.
Be that as it may, I'm content with the ballot remaining as it now stands and again wish all nominees the best of luck in the voting.
Respectfully,
Neil w Young

I am not certain what inspired my being nominated for best male artist as it has been a relatively inactive year for me, but I am grateful for it. I shall use the confidence boost to renew my focus on future projects and my ambition to complete a full length album in 2022.
Best of luck to all.

I wish to extend my thanks and appreciation for the nomination of my song, "Treasures" in the Easy Listening/Soft Rock category and for Best Male Artist - my 4th such honourable nomination I believe it is.
Going into my 80th year this month I feel blessed and thankful that I'm still able to be making music and loving do it just as much as I did more than 60 years ago when I wrote my first song in 1959.
Congratulations to all nominees and the best of luck to all and thanks to all members for their involvement and participation.
