How does it feel to walk out of the Regis and Kelly show?
Anyone hear about Ringo taking a powder? Opinions? What would YOU have done?

The story I just read indicated that Ringo refused to appear on the show rather than cut his song down to a too-short length, and that he offered to reduce the interview segment so as to have an adequate amount of time for the song performance, with the same overall time. As far as I'm concerned the producer of the show is an idiot for letting it get to the point where Ringo walked. I support Ringo 100% on this - the producer's story is that Ringo's "team" knew for months of the time limit for the song, so I think Ringo's team let him down on that front, but hey, it's Ringo Friggin' Starr, get a clue, producer dude.

As for what I would have done - if I were the show's producer, I would've done whatever Ringo wanted. If I were me...I wouldn't have been there in the first place (lol) - those morning TV shows give me a pain in the uke.

By the way, it reminds me of Elvis being dressed up in a tux and singing to an actual hound on a show - was it Jack Benny? It was mildly amusing, but seemed a lot more like the "performing monkey" approach to showbiz and I give Elvis a great deal of credit for going on with the show, but I would have respected him equally for walking if he had chosen to do so...

Oh my goodness - just tried to watch a video of Ringo doing his new song "Liverpool 8" and couldn't make it more than about a minute before shutting down the youtube window of my browser - I might have to switch my stance here - sorry, Ringo...I still love you, but hey, couldn't make it through that tune my friend...

It's nice to know Ringo is still all about the music. I thought his compromise offer was perfectly reasonable, but then, I'm not a dopey producer lol. Back in the day, the act was lucky to answer a few questions if any at all. Of course, they were new acts, as in Elvis' case.
Hugh, that was the Ed Sullivan Show and the dog was a gag in good humor (and genius PR). In order to appear on Ed's show at all, Elvis had to tone down the hip shakin' for the show's "family" entertainment reputation and at Mr. Sullivan's insistence. And for good measure, they filmed his performance "above the hips".

Ringo's just promoting his new cd like any other musician would, like any actor with a new movie would or any celeb needing publicity would.
He is, after all in the music 'business'...
