Rant of the day - Buyer beware
Call me a fool but I consider myself an average person. 6 months ago my transmission needed major repair and Mr. Transmission offered one of those differred payment plans. If you get their card through "Citifinancial" pay no interest for 6 months so I thought sure I'll try and save some interest. 6 months to the exact due date I pay the balance at one of those citifinancial branches ....no problem, done. Low 'n behold I receive a statement yesterday with interest due.

What!?

Transaction date good, posted date a couple days later. So "Citifinancial" customer service guy says, those branches are really independent of "Citifinancial" I'm like are you kidding me then why do they call them that? No where along the way was that made clear. I specifically waited to the day to walk in and pay. I even told them I'd be back for the second transaction.

So I was fuming and said I'd let everyone know that I felt this was deceptive and misleading. Close my account immediately I don't want anymore dealings---"ah but what about the interest you owe?" Fuel to the already burning fire in me "There's no need to be yelling in my ear" -- "Chalk it up to learning to deal with irrate customers" --- Lord knows I've dealt with them in my time.

Sorry if I've wasted anyone's time with this rant but I'm sick of stupid stuff like this. Now I'll go have my coffee and see if I can write an angry song.....

Ugh. The very same thing happened to me many years ago, when I bought a new computer for college. All I needed was to buy time till my student loans came through, which they did, but I still got an invoice for interest due. What's worse is I keep getting these offers from them all the time - my email, my snail mail, they're just everywhere - for credit cards, loans, etc. At 28%, that's just the kind of loan that you make minimum payments on only to find out you owe more in five years than you did when you got the loan...

Good luck Carolyn. Write that song, sister!

My doctor told me not to read stories like this - but I couldn't help myself. You're right, Carolyn - write a song! Best therapy in the world!

Thanks all for the show of support and taking the time to write. I know that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, but I hate when you think you've done a good thing and followed the rules only to get shafted in the end.

Still trying to find my happy place!! :-)
