Who has used more IAC bandwidth than any other artist?
Just looking at the "Now Playing" again :)

There are a few candidates. Most of them vary over time. There are a few constants, though, who surely should be rewarded :)

No - it's strange but it apparently is the result of me posting, in response to the Lyin Dam post which was already there, using one of our mirror sites when the main IACmusic.com was down for awhile late afternoon. That server is in a different timezone - which means that's something we'll have to reconcile.
And there is no Father Time anymore fyi.
But since you follow this Lyin, I wondered what names stand out in that regard just empirically?
I did it again - see above where it says from mirror test. So that was it.

One artist does stand out. I don't believe I have ever, ever opened a "Now Playing" that didn't have Indic Mist on it, usually in multiples. Surely he is the most popular artist here ever.

Yes, but they're only "listens" of one second each, so that doesn't suck up much bandwidth. Not only that, but they must certainly be in the user's cache, so it would be a total file delivery of only a few bits, eh?
Am I right Bam?

Looks like a fair amount of gaming going on, I noticed a few like to see their names over and over on the now playing page. Click Click Click..... same song a few seconds apart...
Whatever floats your boat....

hoookay.
Now I see what you're talking about. BUT here's the joke on these Multiple players of the same TUNE - It ONLY counts ONCE, per IP......
So unless they are listening to the whole song, and somehow miraculously using a different IP each time, from the same computer, it ain't gonna do JACKSHIT for their CHARTing.....
The ONLY way to really be heard, is to gain listeners.....
It's a challenging Catch 22 that way, ya know....

Me too, pip.
I listen to IAC more than I do oldies, mainstream, or OTHER sources for Underground/Indie Artists.....
Does that make me a delusional fool, or on the cutting edge of NEW music out in Indie Land?
Quite a query, eh?
Or at the very least, a more INTERESTING topic than the "who's wasting their time hogging the bandwidth" question.

B--bbbb-bb-band width?
We've only got a three-piece at the moment, with a mean weight of about 190 lbs.... does that mean we lose out?

Aw, comeon, let Bam come out of his shell :D
While I know that all those repeated listens don't count for chart postition (IM would be numero uno fo sho foever if they did), I have to w-a-nder about the purpose. I guess the entire Indian nation is streaming him through the same IP, though. Which is ok, I assume. Not accusing, just questioning.
I do see that kind of activity from others, but it seems to peter out (go away, Schmooze) when they realize it doesn't affect charts without some serious robot programmin.

Bandwidth is not an issue in this day and age for most of us anyways, my opinion
and the now playing thing , it is depending where you have embedded your station , personal songs etc.....and the unique visitors that hit up your Domain or site, it could be seriously a good number of unique hits, some could be happening simultaneously and some consecutively , one right after each other.....but really who cares unless you are counting pennies as you see your plays happen : )

You nailed it SOCIAL SPIT -- that's the only COOL part about the Now Playing feature --- to check it out, and then find one of yours, or a musician you highly regards songs, being played and NOT by you!
urrr... in other words finding what OTHER people are listening to, and discovering that sometimes it just might be tunes that YOU dig.
