HAMILTON MUSIC AWARDS
In addition to my post a few weeks ago regarding our being a Nominee in the 2008 Hamilton Music Artists Awards for NEW COUNTRY RECORDING of the YEAR for "NO LOOKING BACK" - Neil w Young and The Legendary Bear Creek Band (http://www.hamiltonmusicawards.com/music.html) a follow up Press Release today from the Awards committee has announced the nominees in the 2008 Hamilton Music Industry Awards.

I am so very pleased to post that my mentor, producer, arranger and engineer - and fellow artist here at IAC, Ray Lyell, is a Nominee for STUDIO ENGINEER of the YEAR for my debut album "NO LOOKING BACK" (http://www.hamiltonmusicawards.com/industry.html)

Other nominations regarding my debut album "No Looking Back" that did not result in the respective persons being selected as nominees were Ray Lyell in "Producer of the Year" category for my debut album; Erin Kellam, my official photographer and graphic artist in "Best Album Art" category for artwork on my debut album, and Turn Key Web Solutions for "Best Web Site/Online Production" for my web site www.neilwyoung.com.

I am greatly honoured that my debut album has resulted in being a Nominee in the two aforementioned categories, as well as being nominated in the three noted additional Industry Award categories.

We are looking forward to the awards events and ceremonies next weekend and are proud to be sharing these honours with our peers here at IAC.

I raise my glass to you Neil and The Legendary Bear Creek Band.
I had to tell you recently my wife and I took a drive around the western U.S..
Of course I didn't leave home without your CD. Sometimes moments get etched in our mind and the beauty of " The Drive" through Yellowstone National Park fit very well with each song on the "No Looking Back" CD. Icing on that cake so to speak.
Congradulations Nominee!
peace and respect

Thank you so very much Lace for your warm congrats and to you Roy for your special heartwarming words of camaraderie.

With the awards ceremony beginning in a scant three hours from now, my wife and I will soon be leaving for the drive to Hamilton .. and yes, I am beginning to get a little nervous but feeling so very honoured and blessed to be attending the awards ceremony as a nominee and as an indie artist with a special home and friends here at IAC.

I hold all the good wishes in my heart from everyone here and elsewhere who have written to me regarding the nomination.

From the bottom of our hearts, myself and the band say thank you to one and all for your valued support and treasured friendship.

It is past the midnight hour here and my wife and I have just returned home from attending the Hamilton Music Awards, but before turning out the lights I wanted to take this opportunity to extend my sincere and heartfelt thanks for the many warm wishes sent my way leading up to this evening's Awards ceremony.

While it was not my turn to bring home any hardware, I am far from being disappointed as it was truly and surely a great honour to be one of the nominees at this prestigious music awards event - an honour that only a few short years ago I would never have dreamed might come my way. My congratulations to fellow nominee Doyle Bomberry and his album "Country Moves" for winning the New Country Recording of the Year award.

What I did bring home with me was the reward of another amazing experience along this great musical highway as well as more pages for another wonderful and fulfilling chapter in my book of life - all of that coupled with the deep satisfaction and clear understanding of the quote that is on my Artists page, "... the dream is not the destination, it is the journey ..."

Both my dream and journey are alive and well, and I will proudly continue the pursuit of both here at IAC and wherever that Golden Kayak on my Artist's page takes me.

I will close with one of my favorite quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson:

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."

Again, thank you one and all for your valued support and treasured friendship ... both are appreciated far more than words can say.

Happy trails.

Neil

P.S. ... Rob, thanks for your Kia Kaha! (Stand Tall) earlier send off to the awards ceremony ... I did ... and I do.

I'm just catching up here after being away for the day and before heading back out until later tonight (no rest for the wicked ... lol) ... but wanted to take this quick opportunity to thank you Sam, Phlegm - Conversation Suicide, Jerry and Todd once again for your kind thoughts and vote of confidence.

I look at each day as another opportunity to follow my dream and to continue my journey down this wonderful highway of music. Friendships such as yours and many others that have come into my life here at IAC are a special part of what I consider my most valuable award and reward from my love for music.

Thanks Deb. It was an honour to be one of the nominees, and attending the awards ceremony on Sunday evening was yet another very special experience.

I have many here at IAC to thank for all the support and encouragment that I have received since uploading my first song in March 2007. It has been an amazing ride and a wonderful feeling to be able to share it with so many here. That is what makes it all so very special to me.
