Takin' a break..
... with all of the political posts, I have to say I'm a bit shocked by the ad hominem remarks hurled against others who don't share one's political point of view, and the interactions between some people that, before this all started, seemed to me to be nice folks.
Personally, I liked IAC the way it was when I first arrived, focused mostly on music with kindness and graciousness abounding. So I think I'll take a break, pop in now and again to say *hi*, and come back after the election hoping to find the forum the way it was before all of this started and that I can forget who said what hurtful things against the ideologies I silently hold.

hm mm.... LACE == I'm with you on the overly heated political discussions that CLOG up the BLOG, BUT - I've also been guilty in the past for saying things like "assassinate George Bush -- and GET the TROOPS OUT of the middle east NOW!" -- but I try to let my MUSIC do most of the talkin'..... hopefully after this silly little election, IAC will get back to music. OR HOLO will write a protest song, and get his feelings out in a constructive way....

I think we're in a tumultuous time with plenty uncertainty. People are on pins and needles which can cause some of to be short tempered, short sided and overly opinionated and afraid. All of which lends itself to voicing our opinions. It's a natural way of things I think. When this election is over, some of us will concentrate more on the business of making music. Heck, we should have plenty of things to write about I'm sure.

Lace, please don't despair. If your next post involves razor wire, whips, and howling at the moon, I'll really freak out. But seriously, the tension will end after the election.
Thank god it's only every four years. Things will get back to abnormal around here right after the election. Stick around and ignore any posts that bother you. You're like a breath of fresh air at IAC, so don't take that away from us.

Now, don't you be goin' ANYwhere there, little girl.
All fireworks aside, I think it's pretty cool to see the passion surrounding the subject of politics in this season of choice. Certainly no indicator of complacency.

I don't blame you one bit, Lace. I've felt the same way for quite a while. But I figure the best way to deal with the people that piss me off is to ignore them. It works really well in real life and even better in this virtual world. I wish more people would realize this, because irritating people eventually go away when they realize nobody's listening to them.
It's a shame when good people go away because of the noise coming from the annoying ones.

Hey guys, thanx for the support.. but I wasn't goin' anywhere.. I'd planned to pop in time and again.. was just takin' a break until all of the ad hominen political ranting was over. It got old not to mention boring. I posted to let ya'll know instead of just dropping off the map.
I didn't read most of the political threads and had no desire or inclination to explain my views/defend my position because I know that discussing politics just devolves into a second grade pissing contest. People usually dehumanize others in those kinds of exchanges. I skimmed the topics today and see that Hola announced his departure, with many asking him not to go. I also noticed others posting topics jabbing at *breaking too*, or insinuating that my *break* is *like a kids temper tantrum*, that I must have *fragile feelings*, that *I'm pissed off and will get over it*. Well, I guess I'll just figure people like to fight, will see me as the *temper tantruming/fragile/pissed off problem*, and basically be unable to observe their own intolerance and insensitivity to others who hold differing points of view. It's disappointing to watch all the true colors bleed through.

"I've also been guilty in the past for saying things like "assassinate George Bush -- and GET the TROOPS OUT of the middle east NOW!"
Phle.. that's just stating your opinion.. there's a difference between that and:
"Hillary takes one more stab at reeling in whatever stupid people she can round up, in PA with If You Can't Take The Heat ad."
"Hillary's message - she can carry states where there are a lot of bigots."
"Despite McCain ads pandering to the stupid, Obama surges to commanding lead."
"How can McCain backers ignore the desperate scumbag ads of the last few days or are they lowlifes too, like their candidate?"
