It was fun - and good to hear all that great music. I'm only sorry that we had to leave after the first hour and a bit, and that we missed the first part of the show, including our song, because of a misunderstanding with the changing of the clocks! But we can go listen again... cool!

I'm sure I missed the best parts but the animal party noises at the end was fun!
I'm listening now. Keep it streaming for a while - it'll take me about 5 times through before I hear it all with all the interruptions like the phone ringing and my boss over my shoulder.
One thing I'm noticing is I'm liking the songs by community members more than some of the chart-toppers.

well I was sort of on the hump about it but we would've needed a lot more participation to make it worthwhile for the long haul, and since today we have people expressing their displeasure about the content, I can't see being able to build it up into what we had hoped. Right now in my life I don't have the kind of energy required to keep pushing some side project that might take a lot of heavy lifting.

I understand! Well if you ever get under staffed I'd be glad to help out with anything. I've been on the net since 95 and know my way around administration areas of websites, etc. I used to have a very successful site of my own back in 1999-2002 with Millions of hits and Thousands of Members and Guests from over 120+ different Countries. I organized and managed thousands of online War Gamers with tournaments, contests, top100 site listings and all other Admin with just one Programmer to assist in the maintainence and upgrading. Was a great time!
I think maybe an announcement or banner add on the mainpage or a sticky blog thread would attract more attention and will always be listed as refference to time and date and discussion. Unfortunately when things are out of sight they are out of mind. I'd love to try and help promote a 2nd second Show if you can manage time to do it. If not, will remain a great IAC memory. Maybe as the site continues to grow we could have another go at it.

Scott, I read the other thread, and if thats the only complainer of the Content please shake it off.(I responded to that thread as well) You can never satisfy everyone! Taste in music is too varied..
I think you did a great Job, and I think its terrible that you are discouraged enough to hang it up. You have to give it time! Do you know how many listened? don't judge it by the Chat room participation, some are not into that.
Keep it going, at least give it time. Ignore the critics....that is exactly why commercial radio sucks! The playlists are generic and try to satisfy a set demographic. Let indie radio Breathe!

Although I didn't participate in the chat room, I did tune
in and listen. I thought it was pretty cool how the Big 50
was interspersed by other indie artists here, just about
every other song. Scotts a pretty good DJ too. Hope it
happens again.

I enjoyed the show and the chat very much...it's definitely a lot of work so I'd understand your decision either way. Individual opinions about The Big 50 (or any other playist) as an institution don't necessarily have anything to do with such an event, and we all know if we would all be pleased with one playlist we'd be listening to commercial radio instead of making our own music and seeking out the tunes we love here!

I haven't got my thanks in yet ... so I wanted to post and say...
THANK YOU very much !!!!!!!!!
The show was great and I enjoyed every minute of it !
I hope it's on again but if not thanks for going out your way to try to put this together for us ... it means a lot to me and as I read the comments I know it means a lot to everyone else.... not the show as much as what IAC tries to do...
There will always be those who try to bring you down ... and the better you get the worse it will be ... but know that you have a lot of healthy support here...
THANK YOU...

That's the spirit!
As a stay-at-home dad with virtually no "adult" social life (LOL!!) I enjoy immensely the camaraderie from this site - the enthusiasm and excitement of things like the "show" combined with the virtual "togetherness" make it very special for me - I'll always try to join you...

My little thought on this is.... what was the advantage of having "live chat" on a special chatroom as opposed to "live chat" here on the pipeline which, providing times can be agreed can work in the same way AND remain as a permanent reference to peruse later. It would be great if I could have half a dozen friends to chat with on the pipeline at about this time of the day now and again.

I would be very disappointed to see it get dropped. Scott you did a great job. There was a great mix of all kinds of indie music. You brought us all together. It felt like we were all hanging out together in a comfy room chatting and supporting each other, laughing and connecting on a more intimate level. It was the greatest.
One thing I've learned is that not everyone is going to support and agree with me. Not everyone is going to like my songs. Not everyone is going to like me. That was very hard for me to accept. Not everyone likes me. :-( I just have to go with who I am and do the best I can. Whenever you stand for something, there will always be opposition coming from somewhere. That's ok. It's good for the soul. It's good for us to face our opposition. It makes us stronger.
I think it needs a little more time to grow. I think it's full of great potential. You did a great job and you are so helpful. deb

I really enjoyed the show - although I only figured out the listening part when it was all over, but I was catching reruns as I could. The chat was really quick & took a bit of time to catch up to see what was going on, but nothing that couldn't be learned as you grow with the experience. I felt all giddy joining in a party with some familiar names & meeting new ones. It was a cool way to get some private chats going at the same time - just like a real party!
Anyway, like someone said before, you can't please everyone - (bah humbug)
but I am one that was pleased - thanks again Scott!

I don't know how many members you have from UK and Europe but if you had started the show about 4 pm EST I think you would have got more people participating. I have to get up at 6 am to go to work and I am getting too old to go to work on only 3 hours sleep, otherwise I would have been there . How do we get to hear the recording ?

Scott and Toby
you deserve credit for a fine show -----I must have tried 30 times to get into the chat but I think our kiwi 'net was just too slow-----------I could get the broadcast on winamp but it wouldn't allow me into the chat room???? Copper wire???
Anyways this is too good to drop maybe what Pseudonymph says would help me too ie having the chat on this page?
btw---------I'd love to read the thread ---------any chance?

The chatroom is far more dynamic than the pipeline for special events. There were literally thousands of messages sent, it's a whole different medium.
The reason you missed the chat was because based on what you posted that day, you were trying to get in at 4:00 and we didn't open the room til 7:00. So we just have to get your international clock synced up. :D

We'd rather try to find a time that would be more workable for everyone. However I just cranked up the shoutcast to play replays of the show again so anybody who wants to listen can, for at least another 12 hours or so.

Thanks I eventually got to hear the show this evening. It was a great show and wonderful to hear the songs from the participating community members interspersed with the other songs, some of which I hadn't heard before. Hope you will do another one. Perhaps you could vary it by featuring the different radio stations sometimes.
