Golden Kayak Award Ceremony
I am still in a state of shock at Dirge winning the Golden Kayaks for best female artist and best R & B song and wondering if I was dreaming last night. We are very honoured that these 2 kayaks were awarded to her by fellow artists and thanks to Jilly and Scott for hosting such a great show, I felt like I was at the Grammy's.
Dirge was a true independent artist, working together with musicians she met on line and developing her own unique style. She always preferred to write and sing her own songs rather than doing any covers. She was completely self taught at the guitar, piano and in the use of Cubase with all the complicated editing of tracks that this involved.
I again wish to thank all her collaborators from around the world and a special thanks to Fred E Jam for his help, patience and experience in production of many of her songs and his fantastic drumming which can be heard on 'Coming Home' and other songs.
Even though Dirge is no longer with us her spirit will live on for many generations through her music and listening to it makes us feel she never left us.
Peter Dieck described Dirge as the 'Florence Nightingale' of the collaboration site they visited, bringing new life back into old musicians and inspiring them. I hope that some of you have felt inspired by her songs and that she will continue to inspire you as I feel continually inspired by the art, poetry, music , videos and writing that she left behind.
Bless you all and thankyou again

Your daughter was truly gifted, and her gift lives on for all of us to enjoy. The awards she has received (and probably will continue to receive) are a recognition of her multiple talents and appreciation for her independent spirit and message. Congratulations! You must be so proud!

Well she deserved it. It was a very dark day when I found out from her mother that she had passed. It was a bright day when I was sent some of her unfinished work to work on. So it was a pleasure to produce this piece and work with Dirge again, even if it was after her passing. I have more of her tracks in my archives, and I'm planning to do some more production with her soon. I've been very busy with production and writing, and admin, but it's always in the back of my mind to get back to it.
Congrats Dirge K. We love and miss you!

Dirge left a legacy of incredible music that some of us are only beginning to appreciate. I believe that she is smiling at her accolades, almost as much as she does when someone allows her voice and message to touch their heart. Beautiful music.

Heh Fred, great to see you here on the pipeline, I know you are usually very busy and don't have much time for blogging. Hope admin will allow me one plug for Fred's site since he is such a good guy. If you feel like collaborating with Fred you can hear his latest 'in progress' mixes at the bottom of his web page.
