Stegor's concert photography to be used in major documentary!
I just got word this morning that some photographs I took of Jethro Tull in concert in 1978 are going to be used in an authorized documentary DVD! This is an authorized documentary, featuring live performances and interviews with all surviving band members, not one of those lame unauthorized ones featuring interviews with a roadie's cousin.
Pardon my bragging, I'm just really excited about this because Jethro Tull is probably my all time favorite band. I know, not exactly fashionable, but I don't care. I practically devoted my life to Ian Anderson back in the '70's, before I found out he wasn't actually God. And these photos have been in a box in 4 different basements for 30 years!
Unfortunately I can't share them with you yet, because they are unpublished, never before seen photos and if I put them on the web I can no longer say that.
But here's a highly enjoyable video of a Top of the Pops performance from 1970. Ian's miming is way over the top for this kind of song but I love it.

Congrats, Stegor! That's cool! When I saw the headline I was going to offer to do a houseparty so you could take pix and put me in...lol...
I just got the Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus dvd a couple weeks back...Jethro Tull does a number...bet you'd dig the whole thing...un-be-friggin-lievable performances by Lennon/Clapton, the Who, the Stones...would've LOVED to be there...
Congrats once again!!

Hey Stegor
Congrats man that is great!
I have a couple questions. If they have never been published and sitting in your basement; how did the person writting the documentary find out you had them? How do you know they will use them after they see them?
I hope it works out for you. Tthere are so many scams out there today you have to be very careful. Just looking out for you.

Thanks guys -
I've seen Tull's performance on Rock & Roll Circus but haven't seen the whole thing yet. Been meaning to get it. They had Tony Iommi on guitar at that time, pre Black Sabbath.
I have considered the possibility of a scam, but it all seems pretty legit. Tullpress.com has a banner on the front page asking fans for photos for use in this documentary which is in production. It's not an official website but it's well known and highly regarded and much more interesting than the official one. The official J-tull.com website mentions a documentary in production but doesn't say much beyond that. The company making it is Impact Films, part of their Classic Artists series which includes Hendrix, Cream, Moody Blues, Yes and Black Sabbath (only Cream & Moody Blues have been released so far). So I sent low res images to the address provided and they got back to me the next day with approval.
They're not even offering me any money and I'm not sending any originals, so what's the worst that could happen? I don't need any money to motivate me for something like this!

--------innit great that something you did 30 odd years ago can suddenly jump back in your life, and give you a creative buzz----I love the unpredictability of this kind of
process---------the key is---- you acted when opportunity arose------a good lesson!

Congrats, Stegor, how cool is that??
I saw the original four piece lineup in 1971 at a college concert. I was six people away from the edge of a 2x6 platform of a stage. Great show!
